I have said this before, but I really think Neveda is the next big recruiting state. Crazy expansion the last 10 years there have built up some very nice and very big high schools, the population grew and grew and soon enough the recruiting will grow and grow too.

We have slowed with the economy the way it has been, but we still have over 2 million people. Fortunately UNLV is not into having a football team so no problem there.

And where did you read where this is REPORTED?

HI.com wrote an article that said his cousin, and past teammates that are playing for OU will have no effect on where he decides. He said that was their decision, he wants to make his own. Also said he loves where our program is going, how we played against Oklahoma, and how dominant our defense is. Sounds like he wants to play D in college.

new rivals teaser..... is nebraska his only visit and when is his birthday....

so far nebraska is his only visit set in stone (coming with his parents for the spring game) and I hope his birthday is the same day as the spring game! :thumbs

we better get the birthday cake with bo popping out of it after the game in an effort to get this kid to come here....... now that would be a sight....

but as for vegas kids... yeah unlv cant ever seem to get their act together... dont know the specifics but they do have a lot of talent in the area but i wonder if a lot of parents are worried abotu having their already egoed up young kids heading to vegas for four years.... lots of hawaii kids end up going there for school and they ALL seem to have their stories of excess......

i'm sure there is more to it than in terms of fan support university support and etc.......

maybe its the fact that many people in vegas are from somewhere else and root for other teams

perhaps this is why up in reno you get a little more support for the program as you might have more of a entrenched true local population....

looking at rivals it seems like most of the top talent went PAC-10......

the write up on rivals sounds very promising for us. he is a huge suh fan and suh will be talking to his high school team on today.......great timing. his dad's family friend is a big Sker fan and has been helping coach him for a while now.

UNLV should see a steady improvement under their new head coach. The Fan base here is actually not too bad. I attended a few games with several of the local Husker fans in support. It definitely has a big high school/ community college feel to it rather than a bona fide University. There is a lot of talent here, especially from Bishop Gorman. It's a school that has the advantage of giving out scholarships to the "gifted" kids who cannot afford the tuition to attend the private school. I say they recruit even better than UNLV.

that one site tharinger.com has Jalen as the top recruit in the state of nevada for this year..... regardless of thoughts of inflated stars but the site (per speculation) you have to imagine he'll be a solid 4 type guy........

Grimble gave his visit very high marks.....he said it was a 9.9

He plans to make a commitment in the next 2 weeks instead of waiting until his August birthday like he originally planned. His final four are USC, UCLA, LSU, and Nebraska.

After reading his article, I think he is N. Not guaranteed but his quotes just make it sound that way. Says every school has 1 or 2 good things about them but Nebraska has a million.

If Grimble chooses UCLA, I think I'll need to go into hiding again for another couple of months. If he's smart, he'll get himself under the tutelage of the Pelinis.

Pretty sure Simi Kuli never played a down of D1 football. Believe he signed with Oregon State but never qualified.

So losing him really wasnt that big of a deal.

Well, Herbie beat me to it. He was dead on- Kuli never amounted to anything. I heard reports he ate himself out of football. That one never bugged me much. Pierre-Paul, on the other hand, did- with the draft coming up and JPP being talked about as a top 16 pick, that one makes me wonder, what if. To think, he had a six sack year at USF. Imagine what Bo n Co could've taught the kid.

Oh well. Honestly, i feel pretty giddy about our chances with Grimble, and I'd love to one up USC, UCLA, and LSU. I can see him liking the first two, being from Nevada, but what up with LSU? Who cares-- Here's to hoping the big guy does the SMART thing and joins our Scarlet and Cream.

I'm more worried about all these guys committing while the emotions and experience are fresh on their minds... then decommitting once the other schools start sweet talking them, making promises, and really going after them... If we get Kevin Williams and Jalen Grimble, i'm terrified UCLA or Ohio State or one of the others are going to make hard pushes...

Don't worry about Ohio St. going after Williams because he already visited them for Jr. Day and they wanted him to camp this summer before giving him a scholly and he said "no thanks."

He also said in another interview that he wasn't really a Buckeye fan growing up. He was more a Michigan/Notre Dame fan as a kid. He also liked Michigan St. too.

It's time Nebraska pulls in a BIG TIME player like Grimble or AG, in the nest couple of weeks we could be sitting pretty! :koolaid2:

We could potentially have the entire OL, DL, and QB position filled with quality 4* and 5* players before summer

:koolaid2: :koolaid2: :koolaid2: :koolaid2:

Oh yeah. It looks like Grimble may be N, and soon.

i used to be one of those guys who was like 'he's 99.99 pecent committed guy' but now i've kinda backed off on that because i never want to be too sure that something is gonna happen ( a la owa watch).........

as for JG i am optomistic but i wonder what the other side of the story is with him and the other schools... whats his perception on them and their thoughts on him... we soemtimes only see stuff from our persective and need to dig deeper into other schools.....

Considering the timeline of events and the people who have talked to him, I would not at all be surprised to see Jalen commit.

But the problem is the more high profile you get, the more you worry about decommits later on down the road. Guys who pull the trigger in a flash also un-pull the trigger. Not that I have any reason to think Jalen would be more likely to do that than anyone else––aside from his one decommitment already––but it's April of 2010. A lot can change between now and next February.

While I think it's probably a good idea to keep that concern in mind. Bo's worked really hard at waiting to accept commits until players are sure. Yeah it's probably going to happen now and then, but I think it's going to be minimized given our tactics. Plus I think JG's sold. GBR

Texas has their class almost full at this point. If someone decommits, then you go out and get someone else.

Gabbert decommitted and we got Brion Carnes instead. I would much rather have Carnes over Gabbert.
