westgatehusker
On the front page of Huskers Illustrated there is a teaser that says that Robinson is a front runner for the backup spot at running back. Does anyone have any more info? I would like for him to keep his redshirt, but I'd rather win now. Quote Link to comment
t_husker
they should put in the best running back regardless of redshirt. Quote Link to comment

westgatehusker
Here's an article and video, Brian Christopherson makes it sound like it's doubtful that Robinson will burn the redshirt. http://huskerextra.com/articles/2009/10/14...b6361960685.txt Quote Link to comment
Drowning_in_the_Sea_of_Red
If he proves to be the best option, then why not? Just sucks to burn a redshirt half-way through the year. Quote Link to comment
Husker_x
I'd hold your horses on this one for now. It sounds like Beck still doesn't have a damn clue who the number 2 guy will be but Trey had a good day in practice. Also all parties are willing to burn the shirt if it means early playing time. If he's the best we got, saddle up. Still creates major questions about our depth at the position, though. Quote Link to comment
rkhufu7
His HS Euless Trinity runs an offense sim to old NU offense, with zone blocking from the I and some spread and option mixed in. He played FB and I-back when they won their 2nd title in 2007. They play physical football. Quote Link to comment
Alex 4.0
May the best guy play. We have him for 4 years, instead of 5. There will be another guy coming in behind him waiting to push him out the door. I was once a guy that believed in redshirting, even if it sacrificed some quality at a position. Not anymore. Just Win! more players will find their way to NU. Quote Link to comment
redout22
He must be good if he will be playing on Saturday. If he does play I hope he takes advantage of the time. Quote Link to comment
Danimal
I still think it will be Ward and/or Mendoza. But if Robinson is the best then play him, there are plenty of games left to make it worth his while. Quote Link to comment
Fuzzy
I heard that he told coach Beck he was willing to burn his redshirt to step and play. But i havent heard anything more than that. Quote Link to comment
irafreak
I like the idea of a bigger, stronger runner in the backfield. Let him play. Quote Link to comment
Ohio Pete
The teaser probably overstates it. He is in the mix and if he wins the #2 job, he will play, but as he has been on the scout team all year, I'm not sure he leap frogs the other guys. Quote Link to comment

Beck says that the battle isn't over yet for who takes the spot, and that he'll know more after watching Wednesday's film. But it appears that Robinson has a very good chance of becoming the #2 back, just as good if not better than the other stable of guys they already have. Quote Link to comment

I would think Dontrayevous would have to be a LOT better than the other backs to go from scout team to #2 in the course of a week. If this is really the case, then I am really curious to know what on earth could possibly be holding the other RBs back. Is it really possible that the entire stable of backs behind Helu are so bad that not one but TWO true freshmen have already surpassed them? And if that is the case, why where the coaches so keen to get Okafor back when he quite if they don't think he has the talent to play ahead of these kids? Quote Link to comment
