the one that got away
Can anyone explain why for the past 3 weeks, Helu has worn green jerseys in practice, been announced as healthy, and then end up playing 5-10 snaps before walking off the field holding one of his shoulders. why why why have we not sat him out for a week, or even two if needed, and truly allow him to heal up completely? It is doing us no good anyway to only have him for such a small amount of carries. When healthy, he is our best offensive player, and this goes on all the coaches, but especially pelini for not doing what it takes to get him 100%. maybe i'm missing something but I just don't understand the process and the thinking Quote Link to comment
Drowning_in_the_Sea_of_Red
Apparently he wasn't in a green no-contact jersey today at practice, so who knows what's going on... Quote Link to comment
BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
Its a valid question also raised on radio shows across the state. The short answer appears to be a lack of confidence in the stable behind Helu. Personally I think he is hurting the team more than helping because he is more prone to fumble with the injury. Let him heal!! Quote Link to comment
zoogs
Bo, you're killing Helu by letting him play. please just make him sit. I want a healthy back for next year. Quote Link to comment

BIGREDIOWAN
It's obvious that something is up with Helu. Ever since the Missery game he hasn't been the same and it's painfully obvious. It's time to sit him for at least one game and give him a chance to heal up. We are going to need him for the North games and not that this game against OU doesn't mean much, but it won't help us in the North. Quote Link to comment
Danimal
He should've sat for the last two games to get him more ready for OU. It isn't like he really contributed, against ISU he was actually a detriment with the two fumbles in a small number of carries. Quote Link to comment
HuskerT
Definitely agree. It's hard to watch how uncomfortable he looks out there. Of course he's probably telling the coaches he can play, but the coaching staff has to be noticing what were all noticing and sit him down. Quote Link to comment

What's the big deal anyway? It aint like we are going to play for the NC !! Quote Link to comment

np_husker
We get no valid info when it comes to injuries and it's very annoying. I understand all the privacy issues, but some accuracy from the coaching staff about injuries, punishments, etc., would go a long way and slow down the rumor mills. Quote Link to comment
Igetbored216
If Bo says a player is okay, it just means they are still able to breathe. We will probably see Helu for a few snaps on Saturday and then he will be gone because his shoulder injury is more serious than what the coaches are leading everyone to believe. Quote Link to comment

lilred
Helu's injury and the way the coaches have handled it has been so dissappointing this season. He used to be our most exciting offensive player, now he has just fallen off the map. Quote Link to comment
