caveman99
I don't want to play them because I hate that turf color. Quote Link to comment
bshirt
No way do I want to play these guys until SW and the fluffy wco is "gone". I've had enough total and complete ooc humiliations in Lincoln with the Callahan years (USC, S. Miss). Quote Link to comment
TheCheshireCat
"Bo Pelini has beefed up Nebraska's future nonconference football schedules, and apparently he's not done yet. My sources at NU say that Nebraska is in preliminary discussions with Boise State about a future series, though not necessarily in 2011, when NU has an opening and Boise State needs a game. The Broncos say they will go anywhere that year without a return — but reportedly want a $1 million guarantee to do so. Stay tuned. This series is a good idea. I'd like to see a series — with NU even going to Boise State or playing BSU one time in an NFL stadium. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is usually open to suggestions. Maybe we can get that idea going again to play at Denver's Invesco Field at Mile High." http://www.omaha.com/article/20091116/SPORTS/711169832 I knew there was discussion that both teams had open slots, but didn't know they were actually trying to work on something. Interesting. I'd love to crush Boise at home. Quote Link to comment
sd'sker
That would get a lot of good attention. that is all i have to say about that. Quote Link to comment
Husker Richard
I'd only like this if we did a home/away series, or filled the 2011 slot with BSU in lincoln. none of that neutral/nfl site BS. Quote Link to comment
Count 'Bility
I am a fan of the Boise Program, and what awesome publicity this would be for both schools.. Boise St.-the team that says anytime, anywhere, and Nebraska-the only team that stood up and said "you got it, let's roll" Imagine. Quote Link to comment
Captain K
Jesus, I'm as impressed as anyone that Boise St. has gone from completely irrelevant, yes KSU could have beaten them in the 80's, to a big time program, but why does everyone want to go out of their way to make sure they stay there. What is in it for college football if they are any good. Play them at an NFL venue, please. What are they Penn St.? They have something otherworldly going on in Boise, maybe even witchcraft is involved, but when this coach leaves they could be getting beat by UTEP by 4 td's, for all we know. Sure, let's play them, who gives a crap. It is just a little silly that we are trying to get back to the grown up table by playing BSU and creating the biggest stage possible to do it on. Shatel is a dope. Quote Link to comment
husker B-rent
at first i liked the thought of taking this game with them.....i dont anymore. we gain NOTHING by playing this game. A. we play in 2011 on our field and pay them WAY too much to help their program. we win "yay we beat boise state" we lose....."holy sh#t we lost to boise state". B. we take a home/away and yeah we get them cheaper at home and still have the same scenarios as above as well as the fact that we then have to do it again a year later on the ridiculous blue turf that you cant hardly even see the players on! this is a lose-lose set up and i for 1 really dont want to see it happen. The other problem is that if we beat them, they do not really play anyone else, so it will not count as a quality win. only if they beat us would they have a quality win. Quote Link to comment
tmfr15
This season ain't over yet. Follow this.... Boise State goes unbeaten. We top Texas in the Big 12 title game and earn an auto bid. TCU takes the place of Texas in the BCS title game. Boise State and Nebraska clash down at the Fiesta. Texas goes to the Orange Bowl. Crazy? Yes, we would have to beat Texas, but the other two parts of that are not all that far fetched. Quote Link to comment
HuskerTrucker
Definitely better than playing the likes of Arkansas State.... Quote Link to comment
sd'sker
we really do not need to toughen up our schedule, the big XII will take care of that for us. i would enjoy a more exciting preconference schedule, but it is not necessary. Quote Link to comment

That philosophy would have worked a few years ago, however if you want to be ranked in the top ten, you better play somebody other than just cupcakes. Especially if you want to go for the National Championship. Just winning the Big 12 won't do it necessarily. There are too many other good teams that are playing in tough conferences, too. And some of the lesser conferences are all of a sudden making an impact. It is no longer just the Big XII, SEC, Big 10, and Pac 10 that rule. Besides, we all know how the pollsters are biased to the SEC, Big 10, and Pac 10 teams...and for that matter the Southern Division teams in the Big XII over the Northern Division teams at this point. We have to do a little more than they can just to prove ourselves. Quote Link to comment

We have to do a little more than they can just to prove ourselves. that is a good point, you have to establish yourself early and get up in the polls fast. but i'd rather have it be a bad team that is always ranked high; michigan, notre dame, miami... so on and so forth. that way you get to beat a ranked team and look good doing it; boise state would be a challenge.
