HuskerNMO
It was a combination of penalties and mistakes on offense It started on the first drive, NU had TTU in a 3rd and 13 and gave up a 35 yard pass for a first down, then got them in a 3rd and 17 on the same drive again and gave up a 22 yard pass for a first down, then TTU scored the first 7 of the game. NU couldn't get anything going but forced a 3 and out and returned a punt to the TTU 33. NU got the ball to the TTU 16, but then a WR didn't pick up a backwards lateral and 82 yards later it was 14-0. TT scored again to make it 21-0, then to end the 1st half Nebraska failed to score a TD from inside the 10 and settled for a FG with 1:42 left, but gave up a long pass to TTU that allowed them to get a FG to go up 24-3 at the half In the third quarter NU had a chance to cut the lead, starting a drive on the TTU 35, but a holding penalty and false start penalty forced a 51 yard FG attempt that was missed. NU got a 3 and out and then drove the ball into a 1st and Goal from the 7 with a chance to cut the lead to 14, but had a personal foul and false start that took them back to a 2nd and goal from the 24, they decided to go for it on 4th and goal from the 14 and turned it over on downs. The D held again, and NU returned the TTU punt to the TTU 40. NU called on our backup QB who then drove the short field for 7 to pull within 14 with 8:40 left. But NU gave up a return to midfield and TTU quickly drove down the field to push the lead back to 21. NU drove down again to the TTU 14, but threw a pick with 2 minutes left to end the game. Ringer02
It was the game we discovered we had no offense, Tech also had some fluke plays like that 3&long pass deflection that landed in a tech receivers hand and gave him the first down....It was an awful game.... Quote Link to comment
huzkerbob
These are the games Husker fans need to remember when everyone is claiming "we're back", and that "NU is a lock" for the Big 12 title game this year. 1 Quote Link to comment
Landlord
It's humorous how the guy asks a question and every single Husker fan on here feels the need to explain away our mistakes, trying to convince him that we really are just super awesome. Quote Link to comment
Spartness
If you take away that fumble TD return, take away that batted pass that was luckily caught by the TTU receiver on third and long in the opening drive, and we at least had some offense, it would have been a close game. Our defense played good enough to win -- if we just had some offensive production. We didn't stop TTU's offense -- nobody ever does -- but we slowed them down. I mostly blame our offense for that loss. Quote Link to comment
husker rob
looking at the Huskers' 2009 results, this game stands out as an anomaly (in terms of margin of victory). can anyone tell me more about what happened? did NU have a lot of penalties and mistakes that day, or did TT just simply play better than NU did? the next week, Nebraska imploded at home against I-State. were people here calling for Pellini's head on these boards? there wasnt any calls for Bo's head, but there was alot of people screaming for Watson to be canned Quote Link to comment

I think many of us are telling it like it was, considering those two games don't seem to fit in with the rest of the season. Which is why I think the OP created this thread. Quote Link to comment
NUance
Surprising to have home losses to TT followed by IA State last season. It's sad that we’ve had back to back losses in Memorial Stadium several times in this decade. How many did we lose in Lincoln during all of the 1990s? Seems like we had only two or three home losses. bshirt
The way to beat TTech under Mike Leach was to play offense and keep their offense off the field. Yup. And with our WCO "multiple" offense.....well.... Quote Link to comment
Blaze1up
I was at that game, only Husker game I attended in which we lost. Zac was horrible that whole game, I think his shoulder was really bothering him then. He took some heavy hits. Quote Link to comment
Saunders
The way to beat TTech under Mike Leach was to play offense and keep their offense off the field. Yup. And with our WCO "multiple" offense.....well.... It worked out pretty well with a healthy o-line and QB in 2008. We almost won, and our D did little to slow TT down in that game. The "multiple" isn't the problem. Combine the 08 Offense (or even just Ganz) and we are 13-1, or better last year. Quote Link to comment
mmmtodd
mike leach doesnt get enough credit. Guy just had our, and a lot of other coaches, number. Doesnt really matter now but i was estatic at tech firing him. Quote Link to comment

Scarlet Overkill
How about this: Got their azzes handed to them because NU was outplayed in every facet of the game. Give TT credit for capitalizing on every mistake NU made. The Iowa State game on the other hand ... Quote Link to comment
EbylHusker
Erm, yeah, TT just beat our asses. I mean, you can say Nebraska did this and this wrong, made these mistakes, etc. And it's true. But in the end, TT just whooped us. Quote Link to comment
