Hoosker
Fixed it. I just thought it was neat that you kept a branch. Something to hold on to. I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff. Quote Link to comment
corncraze
They're just going to cover it up. It will be visible from inside the new building, but not from the street. According to the plans they've posted you should be able to see the half-dome via an alcove, but the inscription will be buried, as will the seals. That's a little disappointing. kchusker_chris
pic Those turbine towers on the train look to stretch for miles. lincoln is going green... they will power all university buildings where are they putting them? didn't think it was "breezy" enough around Lincoln to warrant that kind of investment. not exactly western kansas. knapplc
Coincidentally, we saw six of those blades being transported west on I-80 Saturday while driving up to Omaha. Funny that these are going east. I believe the far-right car is the last in that train. It was a huge train. I took pics from the Haymarket parking lot and it was going by, slowly, at the time. I then drove over to 1st & O street, parked, walked 200 yards up the walking path on the O street viaduct, and took that panorama, and the train was going by the whole time. EDIT - to my knowledge, those are not being put up in or near Lincoln. There are several large wind farms along I-80 through Iowa, so I'm guessing they're going there. EDIT II - we have two wind turbines in Lincoln, more for show than anything else I believe. They're up north of the Interstate on 70th street. You can drive to within half a block of them, and when they're in use the blade tips sound like jets whooshing by. Quote Link to comment
kchusker_chris
I take I-70 to Denver quite a bit (worst drive ever)...there are hundreds through western Kansas. It's pretty impressive. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
The wind farms in Iowa have several dozen, if not a couple hundred, turbines. It's neat to see many of them together. One or two at a time... not so impressive. Quote Link to comment
Lyons in the Sea of Red.
Does anyone know how much higher it will go than where they are now? It will obviously go a little higher but just by walking to class today it just looks like they are making the stadium wider more than anything. I want to see some elevation! Quote Link to comment
knapplc
It's supposed to be several stories taller than it is now. Here's a pic of the proposed end product: Quote Link to comment
Blackshirt316
Knapp, According to the renderings of the grand entrance on the expand their experiance website the inscription and seals will still be visible inside the new addition. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
Right, they'll be visible once you're in the facility, just like you can see the West Stadium stuff inside that building. You just can't see them from the street - except for the inscriptions, like this: Quote Link to comment

ZRod
This picture just makes me in awe of the scale of this addition. I knew it was going to be pretty close to the loop and that was a good distance to cover but holy cow is this thing going to dwarf the original East stadium. The renderings just didn't do the scale justice, I'm more excited seeing the skeleton than I was looking at the drawings. Thanks Kanpp and Corncraze for those of us who can't or are just to lazy to see it in person. Quote Link to comment
