nowhereman
I believe this is the "Level 10" story Yahoo Sports has been teasing us with in the off-season. It appears there was a MASSIVE level of corruption at Tha U. Not shocking or surprising given their history, but this is ugly enough that it might just kill their program for a long, long time. http://sports.yahoo.com/investigations/news?slug=cr-renegade_miami_booster_details_illicit_benefits_081611 A former University of Miami booster, incarcerated for his role in a $930 million Ponzi scheme, has told Yahoo! Sports he provided thousands of impermissible benefits to at least 72 athletes from 2002 through 2010. In 100 hours of jailhouse interviews during Yahoo! Sports’ 11-month investigation, former Hurricanes booster Nevin Shapiro described a sustained, eight-year run of rampant NCAA rule-breaking, some of it with the knowledge or direct participation of at least seven coaches from the Miami football and basketball programs. At a cost that Shapiro estimates in the millions of dollars, he said his benefits to athletes included but were not limited to: cash, prostitutes, entertainment in his multimillion-dollar homes and yacht, paid trips to high-end restaurants and nightclubs, jewelry, bounties for on-field play (including bounties for injuring opposing players), travel and on one occasion, an abortion. Bo Pelini, consider yourself a lucky man for not accepting Miami's efforts to court you last year. Quote Link to comment
okaive
Can't wait to rub this in my co-workers face. He rubs all the gamesthey won in mine, so it's only fair. Quote Link to comment

95huskers
I was hoping for a Miami revival and Nu beating them down for our future series. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
And if anyone is shocked by this, especially after watching the ESPN 30 for 30 episode about "The U," they are delusional. Shapiro goes back, what, eight years? This has been going on there, as a culture, for decades. Decades. 2 Quote Link to comment

My thoughts exactly, its basically been the "culture" of their program since the 80s and has been detailed and celebrated by former players and ESPN. I'm a little disappointed because I really wanted some (NCAA speed) instant karma to hit Auburn. This couldn't happen to a bigger bunch of scumbags though. Quote Link to comment
Notre Dame Joe
I was hoping for a Miami revival and Nu beating them down for our future series. We've got a series with them and will have to endure the excuses about how it doesn't count because they aren't cheating anymore. Quote Link to comment
Husker_x
Holy hell! Miami is going to be a nuclear fallout zone if even half this stuff is verified by the NCAA. Quote Link to comment

Imagine how big of a joke the NCAA will be if they DON'T nuke Miami over this. If they don't give the Canes the death penalty, nobody will ever respect their rules again. Quote Link to comment

Oh, Lord, if this stuff is true––good night. The NCAA has absolutely no option. If they don't lay waste to Miami there will be no reason to have an NCAA. They're pretty good about keeping kids like Charles Jackson out of school. Now it's time to do something useful with their time. The head is on the chopping block big time. 2 Quote Link to comment
nowhereman
What's angering about this is the fact that it was all going on for more than two decades. This Shapiro guy even admitted that he just took over for Luther Campbell when he was chased away from the program in the 90s. It was obvious to everyone Miami was a cesspool - you don't even need to see the 30 For 30 documentary to know that - yet they were given relatively minor punishments for all their past deeds. Nuke it, bury the remains, salt the earth, then nuke it again. Wipe Miami's existence from the record books. Let Tom Osborne have one free kick to Schnellenberger's nuts. Quote Link to comment
95huskers
I'm going to sit back and enjoy my Sam Adams.... while thanking God for Bob devany... Tom Osborne. .. and Midwestern ethics. 1 Quote Link to comment
95huskers
We could be sitting here thinking about how we Just won this title or that title.... not to say that Nebraska was innocent of all wrong doing during the glory years.... but overall nothing remotely close to auburn Ohio St. Miami smu ou. I'm proud to say overall things were done the right way at Nebraska. Quote Link to comment
