Enhance
druski_2k5 - I agree with everything you said. And it's not that we think the defenses are too good - it's that they don't play within the realm of reality. I've done the exact tests you have using specific formations over and over again to illicit the defense into making a mistake. They'll read my plays before the ball is even snapped, effectively making the running game useless when trying to set up play action. Most of the time, play action results in me getting sacked or throwing an incomplete pass. All of your points are things I've noticed about the game, and many of them I've talked about in this thread and NCAA football threads before it. The option game is another big one - making the correct read, you'll still probably lose yards. Have a fast, scrambling quarterback? He's never fast enough, nor do his teammates make the blocks needed to be successful. There's several ways they could adjust the AI to still make defenses valuable, but not unrealistic. They haven't figured out how to do this yet. Quote Link to comment

It's really ironic considering in years past it was more about how do I stop an offense with these vanilla defensive schemes, and now it's how do I get my offense moving and maintain possession against the all knowing vanilla defense. Enhance
Exactly. It's nerve-wracking every time I call a pass play, because I know that the game is doing just about everything in it's BS power to stop me from completing it. I used to complete 70% of my passes - now, I feel lucky about completing 50%. It's like the option game - it doesn't matter if you make the correct read or not, because there's still a strong chance you won't be successful. Quote Link to comment

ZRod
Bucky just because your deckinblack too doesn't mean you have to double quote yourself with no reply... But seriously those rating are just messed up. How could we be ranked within two points of two teams that we had our with with last year in Mich St and Iowa when they don't really bring anything back this year any more than we do. ZRod
On another note I just downloaded the demo tonight and played 2 1/4 games and a stint as RG3. As an aside it would appear that even though they list all six teams offensive philosophies you are only allowed to play with a pro/west coast style offense, which kind of sucks to figure out how the game will really play. *(Guess the three I played with had similar play books, Oregon has a true spread and K State is in fact multiple.)* But I will say that I was pleasantly surprised overall with the demo. I played as USC, LSU, Baylor (offense only), and K State (for a quarter). The studio updates where what I thought they would be, a cool idea but I skip most of them because I'm usually hitting the button to pull up the play screen. And they feel kind of lame with no video highlights, just Reece spouting off something about the game. The Bad: Still suffers from the same generic animations that are just not fluid, and they really stand out now with the better animations that have been introduced. This goes for the set pieces as well (sideline, scoring animations, whatever you want to call them). The running game seems to be guaranteed positive yardage if you follow you blockers between the tackles but getting to the edge is hard to come by unless you have pulling linemen (could be a function of the difficulty too, definitely wasn't heisman). And the options has improved but so far I haven't been able to make the late pitch that they claim you can make while being tackled. Oh and just a dumb thing I noticed, Tyrann Mathieu is a white guy with a porn stache. Thought that was funny. The Good: LOTS of new animations some of them are pretty cool. The honey badager pulling a guy back on a 3rd down to prevent the 1st comes to mind. It would appear that you now have total control over the QB in the pocket. You can now kill play action during the play, side step defenders and pump fake specific receivers. The new mobility is a god sent with the AI rush. And the passing game in general feels much more realistic than before, receivers are looking for the ball and no one is making ridiculous picks and catches. All of these things along with the animations and ball trajectories have really made a big difference. Lot of new button layouts to go with the new functions so that will take some getting used to. But overall If this is what the game is really like I may purchase it sometime this year, but definitely not until user reviews are in. I can't help but feel that this is what last years game should have been. Quote Link to comment

This is what I said earlier it got lost in Buckys text I have no idea how to get to the bottom to type with my phone. So anyways here is what I said: Those better be fake. It'sNotAFakeID
I'm thinking those ratings will need to be addressed. Really shouldn't be that many teams 99 overall (and especially Texas and Wisconsin). Quote Link to comment

Nebula
This video perfectly highlights why I will not be purchasing the new edition of this game for this season. For the first time in over a decade. The game hit its apex for me on the PS2 console generation, and has been nothing short of a disaster ever since. It is my favorite game ever...I've logged more hours playing NCAA than I'd like to acknowledge. But until they fix what desperately needs an entire overhaul, and I mean tear down the entire retaining wall and start again laying the foundation on up, than I'm not wasting another penny on this bullsh#t. And to me, CFB>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>NFL, so Madden isn't a consolation for me. FIX THE GAME, EA. After you're done with Sam Keller, I guess. Quote Link to comment
