Zaire Anderson Out for season

Word on the street is...

Anderson actually tore it at Football 101 and he is going to be apart of a class-action lawsuit with Beverly Morgan. He was told by Coach Els to "make a tackle!" but after watching the other linebackers in the aptly named "UCLA drill" miss and miss, he wasn't quite sure how to do it. He felt his knee pop and Coach Els took him to the sideline. Els said that medical trainers would come by, but they never did until after the game on Saturday. At that point, the torn ACL was discovered.

Ironically, Coach Pelini will be joining the suit as well because of an injury that he sustained at Football 101. He was told by Coach Pappois to "run a 3-4 defense!" but after looking at his upperclass linebackers, noting their less-than-stellar closing speed, he started to grow extremely agitated and fel this blood pressure rising. This condition persisted, but remained in semi-remission until the day of the Arkansas State football game when he felt like he ACTUALLY had to run the defense. He grew worse than normal and had to leave the game. The pre-existing condition discovered at the hospital and the link to Football 101 was made shortly thereafter.

Morgan, Anderson, and Pelini are asking for a collective $180,945 from Tim Beck, Ross Els, John Pappois, and the Bo Pelini Foundation.

Zaire played well but it wasn't like he was a man child out there making every play. He made his share of mistakes and was out of position sometimes. He did make some good tackles that had been lacking in the first two games.

I wouldn't say he played better than any of the other LBs on the field. He made a couple plays that were very visible though to the fans.

The injury absolutely stinks for this year. I have been anxiously waiting for him ever since last year ended. However, if he can make some of the plays he did on Saturday with a torn ACL, I am now even more anxious to see what he can do on a completely healthy knee and one more year around the program learning the defense.

The sarcasm note was not needed. If you lack common sense at that level, there is no hope for you.

Very hard to think that the staff would've played Anderson if they knew it was a torn ACL. They're very quiet about injuries, but they would never do anything to intentionally hurt one of their players.

Anderson himself didn't even know he had this injury. Hard to report it to coaches if you don't even know you have the injury yourself.

"Anderson said Tuesday that he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in practice last week but didn't know it at the time. He played with the injury while making his first start in the Cornhuskers' 42-13 win over Arkansas State."

It's just a flesh wound!

He played much better than all of our linebackers, aside

From occasionally being out of place but it was fixed before the snap usually. No other linebacker on our team gets that tackle on Aplin, running to Aplins right. He also played much better than Whaley would have. So yeah, this sucks.
