Don't like socialist entitlements? Don't vote Republican.

I hate the thought of being labeled one or the other. I believe in the capitalism and everyone contributing. I do not believe anyone is "owed" something that someone else worked for. But I also believe in a women's right to an abortion and taking care of those that can't take care of themselves. So I have no idea what I am going to do in November or if it really matters.

As long as Missouri is not a swing state I plan on voting for someone other than Obama or Mitt. Probably Gary Johnson because it looks like he's the biggest name outside the big two that is on the ballot in all 50 states. I don't even really care what his stance is on things, I just hate this two party system so much.

Edit: Ron Paul is an option as well. I don't know how I forgot about him

If Obama is reelected, can we PLEASE stop with the...."It's Bush's fault"? I have absolutely never heard one Presidential term be blamed on his predicessor all the way up till the next election like this one.

You didn't have any complaints about this . . .

Like I said, Clinton had just as much to blame.

But I guess W. only had 6-8 years to stop that housing collapse that was totally Clinton's fault . . . whereas Obama has had an extremely lengthy 3.5 years to clean up W's mess.

that is because we have never had such an epic failure at president. i have no doubt that bush will go down in history as the worst two-term president.

You must not have been around when Bush was in office.

Obama was handed this mess. It is what it is. And Congressional Republicans (specifically, the House) have gone out of their way to prevent any of Obama's proposals from being passed. Hell, they refuse to even put them up for a vote.

This is why the country is screwed and an economic collapse will happpen in the next few years.

What, from deficit spending? I seriously doubt it.

yeah, so what is your point? I already said they both are to blame, where as you seem to only want to blame the pubs/Bush. Question for you, who controlled the house under Clinton and who controlled the house under Bush?

Our economy was built on a house of cards, we have already seen that. You don't have to believe, but it will happen. jmo

Let me add, yes from deficit spending. THe more we spend the more we print.. that will only devalue the dollar. That will be our undoing.

We are part of a global economy and countries all over the world are on the brink.. we are as well.

if your so intent on blaming someone start with the New Deal and FDR: The Banking Act, Civilian Conservation Corps, Public Works Administration, Agricultural Adjustment Administration, National Industrial Recorvery Act, Emergency Relief Appropriations, Rural Electricification Administrations, Social Security Act, National Labor Relations Act, Committee for Industrial Organization, to name a few.

government regulations and entitlement programs are well established and are not to go away. Maybe it's just best to get what you can rather than fight them.

So... Obama gets a second term, and magically the giant steaming pile of crap Bush built just.... goes away? That would be really swell if it were true. Unfortunately, we live in reality, not fantasy-land.

That wasn't in reply to you. :thumbs

The steaming pile would still be there but it would be barely noticeable next to the steaming mountain the new guy made.

Which legislation and policies are you including? (Obamacare for one, I'm sure.) What else?

Between 1960 and 2010, the growth of entitlement spending was exponential, but in any given year, it was on the whole roughly 8% higher if the president happened to be a Republican rather than a Democrat.

Are Entitlements Corrupting Us? Yes, American Character Is at Stake

It's a lot of fun to blame the president but it's pretty misleading.

Dems controlled the house every year from 1960 to 1995 (actually they controlled it all but two years from 1933 to 1995).

Dems controlled the senate all but six years from 1960 to 1995 and all but 10 years from 1993 to 1995.

If you'd like to blame the republicans for any changes to entitlement programs from 1995-2007, please let me know what they are. Otherwise, you're looking on the wrong side of the isle and and the wrong address in Washington.
