True2tRA
If we don't learn how to play defense at Nebraska, it won't matter who our quarterback is. That was the most pathetic display I've ever seen in my life. Quote Link to comment
lo country
We all know Martinez fumbles, we all seem to agree that he gets "the deer in the headlights" look in big games. So what have we all suggested....... Settle him down, run the ball, give him some high % throws to make. What does Beck do? Sit in the pocket, behind a pathetic OL against Wisky's sand lot D and expect him to be Tom Brady. Martinez isn't the greatest, but he does win games. Beck's play calling, IMO, again put us in a hole and then he needed Martinez to have to throw the ball to try and come back. Ineptitude running rampant. Not to mention the D couldn't catch a cold last night. Quote Link to comment
Decked
He needs to just throw it away sometimes. Get rid of the ball don't take a sack. Quote Link to comment
suh_fan93
Not that this disaster was TMart's fault, but no successful program can continue to give away 2-3 turnovers a game to the other team and expect to be a top program. At this point I would be SHOCKED to see a game with no Martinez fumbles. I'm glad his passing mechanics have improved, but if he can't stop the incesssant fumbling then put him at WR and bring start the Armstrong Era. Because we have a guarantee that Tommy is better at holding onto the football than Taylor. Come on dude. He leads the FBS in fumbles. I believe he was near the top or the leader in that category last year as well. He's consistent at being horribly inconsistent. I could care less about the run last night. We tied our wagon to the wrong horse or should I say Pelini did. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I can't wait until Martinez graduates. Nothing personal but he'll be our starter no matter what with Pelini running things. It's a joke and a long one at that. Quote Link to comment
beanman
Really...folks are going to focus on Taylor's fumbles and INTs from doing too much, and not how Taylor was scrambling for his life the whole damn game? Play-calling and offensive line play? Yes, by all means, question those area which have been suspect at varying times all season. But pulling the one kid who tried to play his heart out because he fumbled giving extra effort too many times? Really? Is this the best knee-jerk reaction we can come up with...to bench Martinez? Really? You think the fumbles were a result of giving extra effort? After watching him fumble the ball over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, . . . . . . over the last 3 seasons. It's not a matter of him actually having trouble with ball security, it's simply a matter giving extra effort? Please. Taylor shouldn't necessarily be benched, but there sure as hell better be an open competition for the starting job next season. A guy who is supposed to be the leader of the team can't be so reckless with the football. At least, if we eventually want to be a good football team. Well said, agree 100%. This is nothing new; it's been going on since he's been here. And this is his worst season yet. Quote Link to comment
REDSTEEL
He needs to just throw it away sometimes. Get rid of the ball don't take a sack. He should have took the sack at the end of the half instead of running out of bounds and giving Wisconsin time to score again. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
It's always the knee jerk reaction because the Martinez haters find any reason to bash the guy. Did he play his best game? No............no he didn't, but the offensive line was atrocious. I've been a big Martinez defender... but he just kills us with his ball security issues. It's hard to look at it and say that this continuing is acceptable. If Ameer fumbled this much, you'd pull him in a heartbeat. Why is the QB any different? Cause the running back doesn't run the offense.................. Quote Link to comment
Zaimejs
Why is a third-year starter playing rattled all the time? Why does he always look like he is scared and confused. I think he's just not very smart and he forgets to hold onto the ball if a play goes on to long. Short term memory. Quote Link to comment
Blackshirts007
I NEVER get tired of watching Nebraska lose. What an ***kicking!!!! Dude, go "Blow" your boyfriend, he's been waiting patiently Quote Link to comment
CheeseHusker
50% of Nebraska's allowed points this year were from turnovers. That's a pretty damning statistic. Taylor is responsible for a LOT of those. Quote Link to comment
flatwaterfan
I think Armstrong will get some good experience next year and if Taylor is not playing well, I think the staff will feel comfortable playing him. I think with Taylor having as much experience as he does, that they can divide up the reps more in practice. Quote Link to comment
True2tRA
Taylor often hurts this team just as much as he helps it. Quote Link to comment
CheeseHusker
If Taylor could just develop some poise, he'd be dynamite. We know he has the tools. Can poise even be taught at this point? Quote Link to comment
