NUpolo8
I don't for a second think Dirk Chatelain had anything to do with any rumors. That's just silly. He's a journalist, not a yenta. As far as Bo leaving Nebraska - I think it's unlikely. 80/20 he's here for the next couple of years, minimum. But if he does leave, it could be because he's looking at a landscape he didn't envision five years ago. Decent players at several positions, but a somewhat bare cupboard on defense. He's been less successful recruiting than he expected, and he's earned the approbation of a fair portion of the fan base after several high-profile drubbings. He could see himself mired in a position that will take a lot of work to get out of, and think that if he can get a similar or even slightly better contract at another school, he could start over with a new relationship with the media and fans, and a much longer leash. The AD who hired him is gone in less than a month. His brother is gone, his good friend Sanders is gone, and he's going to face one of the better football minds out there in Urban Meyer if he makes it back to the CCG here. He could go to some ACC or even PAC-12 school and hit the reset button, somewhere a little closer to the recruiting hotbeds and a little further away from the crazy fan base here in Nebraska. I would venture to say that he's turned a bit of a corner on the recruiting trail. But this is just my opinion and I don't get into the star rankings, so grain of salt I guess. If Bo did indeed do that his integrity would take a massive hit. And seeing how one of his favorite pastimes is to hold the morality sword over certain SEC coaches and their oversigning, not to mention the media for digging their noses where he doesn't think they belong, people would have a field day on him. And we all know how well he handles that. I tend to agree with you. It's a climb, but a painfully slow climb. I'm cool with Bo staying for a few years. I'm not cool with blowout losses where the players just give up. If that doesn't stop, my notorious kool-aid spewing is going to go bye-bye. The commitment to excel at football is way too high for it to happen every year at Nebraska. I'll agree with you there. If Bo hasn't had a talking to about that yet, I'm amazed. It makes a choice like getting the best assistants possible around you a near no-brainer. Quote Link to comment
da skers
The scoop also reported this morning that Auburn had hired Kriby Smart only to hours later state that Gus Malzahn got it. They just go off of phone calls of people speculating. They are a phone in version of a message board. If you want a guy who knows whats going on look at coaching search. This guy will state if the info is verified or a rumor and he won't put a rumor up unless its been pushed to him by several people he trusts. Its rare he's off. http://coachingsearch.com/coaching-search-ticker.html 3 Quote Link to comment
HuskersNE89
Maybe he was more interested in job interviews than preparing for Wisconsin Heard from several sources Bo was gone several days the week of the CCG If this is true, and if it was to interview for another job, that is unacceptable. If he doesn't want to be here, I hope he leaves. But I will wait to officially formulate opinions on this matter until after I have heard his response to a question about it, or have received some sort of confirmation one way or another. I'd like to give Bo the benefit of the doubt in this situation, but it doesn't sound good at all right now. This is where I'm at too. Honestly. No opinion either way. This should certainly be cleared up on Sports Nightly if not tonight, then for sure tommorrow night when Osborne has his final AD radio hour on the show. This will for damn sure be addressed. Agreed but do we honestly think Bo will be forthwith about it? My guess is he will say "there's no truth to that rumor" no matter what. Even if this is true, if Bo admits as much then he knows he will be in hot water with the fan base. Quote Link to comment
krc1995
IF this rumor is true, it explains why the defense looked like garbage. IF he was in that heavy of negotiations with another team on the eve of a potential conference championship, then he should go. Quote Link to comment
lo country
If BO is trying to better himself good. My personal experience, you never really know how good/bad you have it at your job until a sure offer comes along.......Maybe he gets "the offer" and realizes NU isn't that bad. Perspective in clarity is good. In regards to oversigning, it works. NU has 20+ OL on schollie and 3 walk-ons starting to include a defensive tackle switched to center. Basically same with the DL. We recruit by the numbers, guys do not work out and we are screwed. SEC over recruits by 15 guys, enough pan out to have a pretty complete class each year. Quality depth each year and at each position. We recruit, X number do not pan out and we wait until next year. Recruit some more and 1-2 on OL work out and now we have 2 fresh and 3 seniors for example. I do not agree with it, but until it is illegal that is what we are up against. If Bliema to Arkansas is true, he is a perfect fit in the SEC. Quote Link to comment

IF he was in that heavy of negotiations with another team on the eve of a potential conference championship, then he should go. No truth what so ever. The Arky AD was asked if he talked to Bo through a large money booster of UNL who's also friends with Long. He (Long) stated he did not talk to Bo but thought he was a good coach. Its also been reported that Brett V told his coaches two weeks ago he'd be leaving. From several fans at Indy game many of them stated they hoped Nebraska would win so BV would be fired. They did not like him very much because he's an Ahole that makes Bo look like the Pope. Quote Link to comment

I haven't read anything (thought I may have missed it) that Bo actually TALKED to the Arky AD. Knapp's tweet can be interpreted as "Arkansas would have hired Bo HAD they been given the chance and offered him the job" Quote Link to comment
HuskerInLostWages
Strange. if you watched the game on Saturday(if you made it that far) they showed Barry Alvarez walking down to the field and they asked him about coaching again. After he smiled and walked away the announcers were talking about that "sparkle in his eye". Maybe he did know that Bret was leaving and they may have known something as well. 1 Quote Link to comment

Knapp's tweet can be interpreted as "Arkansas would have hired Bo HAD they been given the chance and offered him the job" being slightly argumentative here, but does anyone actually "talk" anymore? Maybe Bo's agent/lawyer talked to Arkansas. I believe that Bo isn't talking to anyone, but then I really can't imagine anything better then DONU Quote Link to comment
Foppa
Man...no way would I feel sorry for Wiscy players or fans...but how hard would it be to support that idiot in the Rose Bowl? I'm sure he was hardly scraping by on his UW salary. What a sellout. Quote Link to comment
ILikeNUAlot
First off.. it is Arkansas. Not a top flight program. I don't care what conference it is in. Feels like a strange lateral move (besides the $$$). Whatever. Moving on. PS is the SEC hype over yet? Quote Link to comment

IF he was in that heavy of negotiations with another team on the eve of a potential conference championship, then he should go. I don't think he was out looking for a job during the week of the game. Too much evidence to refute that. Now, he may have looked elsewhere, but reports are confirming Bret took the Arky job a few weeks before the CCG. Quote Link to comment
