yes tony, good analogy, but there's one thing that you never do...

don't f*ck with tradition...

Yeah! Don't change anything! It never works!

Vince Ferragamo

certain things you don't mess with...

And you draw the line...where...?

Helmets, medium rare Steaks, fruity flavored beer, funky coffee flavors, bad music...

Was that before or after you suggested the photo-realistic corn helmet?

I think it was before. But then i decided to play along with trend of this thread for the humility of it, but after the negative remarks on the corn helmet, hours and hours of crying and binge eating, I've decided we just need to play the damn game.

To all the traditionalists who insist that the white helmet with the red "N" is never messed with. Do you still drive the same make, model and color of your first car? Some of you act like the earth would and should swallow the stadium with the players in it. Before you accuse me off being a young "change is good" type I am far from it. I'm a grandfather (great grandfather if you count step grandkids). If the team council wants to wear something atypical and the team votes yes then they should be able to. Our team first represents the students at the university, not the wealthiest donors and not the fans. While you were students at the U the team represented you. When you graduated you are only an alumni. No one in this state owns the team like a pro franchise. Their only obligation as student athletes is to not get crossways with the law and pass their classes.

I realize I'm taking an extreme view of your argument, but your proposal intimates that the uniform can (and maybe should) change with every class so that it best represents the student body.

I dont think the uniform is so much to represent the student body as it is an identity for the school and program. Despite Oregon's success, I think NU is better off building/maintaining the brand versus chasing fads. The fad has gone from something "cool" to people/fans trying to show how creative they can be. (And if your "brand" were a certain model/style/year of vehicle, you'd stick with it as long as it provides you with what youre looking for..noteriety/money/etc.)

With all that said, I'd live with ONE game per year jacking with the brand.

I drive a '93 Mustang GT, because I love it and I don't need anything else. I have contemplated on getting something new, but I don't because I love my car, it represents old school muscle, before it lost its meaning and its worth much more money than when I bought it. I have owned newer cars, but they are just too expensive for parts and to maintain. I work on my own vehicles, so if I need to take it into a specialist because a tool costs $200 to use it once, its not for me lol. I do own a 2004 Grand Cherokee for the bad winter times, but that thing has costed me more in repairs than my beloved Mustang lol.

Anyway, I am a "traditionalist" and I am part of the younger crowd. There is nothing wrong with a little change, but that first helmet is an extreme change. You getting rid of everything that represents Nebraska, the university and all the alumni's who beat their bodies for your entertainment (and their education). One game a year is fine, but I just don't like DRASTIC changes and go look like a team that was made on NCAA Dynasty (logo and uniform wise).

Ask the players what they want, not the fans. Let the players design an alternate uni each year, within certain guidelines. It doesn't matter what we the fans want, it just doesn't matter. A lot of fans disliked last years alt uni's. Guess what, the fans still watched and continued to watch throughout the year.

I understand that we are all just sharing our opinions, but this "traditionalist" thing is being way over done. For crying out loud its 2013, not 1983. It's NOT about us when it comes to things like this, never has been.

Let the PLAYERS decide.

Black with the N would be cool ............ But if not the N why not put on the Bones ....... I'd like to see a Photoshop black with white bones. Or else go nuts and do an Oregon Style gun silver with a Red N. If we are going to mess with the best why not go all N.

Cool thanks for the sample look, it's cool.
