74Hunter
True, but I can use history as a good resource. Such as the last 3-4 years? Go ahead, use it. I can also take the words of a couple of guys who are "in the know." Guys that tell me that this job isn't what many of our fans think it is. This is simply the ol' "we can't get a better coach than Bo" argument, and it doesn't hold any water. We've had better coaches before, and there's no reason, no reason at all, to think we can't again. No matter how desperately you or your "guys in the know" wish it to be true. Any source of a better coach how has actually expressed interest in this job?? Bueller, Bueller???? And no, the show-clause Sweater Vest doesn't count. Remember, that wouldn't be the "Nebraska way." NUpolo8
Mitch Sherman @mitchsherman 12m Pelini's contract expires four years from today, with no word from Nebraska on an extension like he received after 2011 and 2012 seasons. More writing on the wall? If this is true, it won't help recruiting one bit, but I hope it's not true. If this information is inaccurate, then I'll retract my statement. If true, it lends more credence to everything I've heard. Yes I remember last year when Bo had five years remaining and it helped recruiting so much Nebraska had a top 5 class. Quote Link to comment

Not that I'm too hung up on coaches publicly expressing interest in a position that's not even vacant . . . yet. Quote Link to comment

74Hunter
Yes I remember last year when Bo had five years remaining and it helped recruiting so much Nebraska had a top 5 class. It didn't help that people of power didn't 1) Give us the same resources for recruiting that schools such as Alabama have and 2) They hung the coaching staff out to dry for a few weeks at the end of the season. How long have you been a Nebraska fan? This sort of thing is sad. The first 2 NU games I recall watching were the 80 NU/OU game and the 82 Orange Bowl. So, probably longer than yourself. The really sad (and uniformed) thing is our fans think that this is the same job that it was back in 1997, and that college football hasn't changed since then. 1 Quote Link to comment

Yeah, you could match Bo's budget with Saban's and he wouldn't produce equal results. Bo doesn't have the fire that Saban has for things like that. Saban was complaining about losing recruits because he couldn't do the things he wanted while he was busy coaching the BCS game. Bo used the Gator Bowl as proof his process works. Plus, you know, Nebraska isn't a destination. Remember? Quote Link to comment

AngryHusker88
Tim Beck seems grossly overpaid when you compare his salary to his peers on the staff; and then compare job performance. Just my opinion though Quote Link to comment
sd'sker
no one is demanding bo does what saban has done. so stop those comparisons and complaints. all we want is for bo to be able to beat wiscy when it counts rather than have 70 hung on us when he was hired to fix the defense. 1 Quote Link to comment

Just my opinion though i am one of the few that actually like tim beck. but i agree with this. he was too inexperienced for that kind of money. Quote Link to comment
