SouthLincoln Husker
Stars are based on athletic ability & HS play. It does not take into consideration what is between the ears, meaning football IQ & ability too learn. Quote Link to comment

I believe rivals has a chart that specifies what each rating means. Quote Link to comment

Ameer was a 3 star, but had all of these intangibles! Quote Link to comment

Seems like he was sort of considered a tweener, teams didn't know if he was a DB or RB etc. Most schools of our caliber wanted him as a DB I believe Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
I don't get the point of this. No offense to Mavric or Sean Callahan. I am saying I don't understand why this matters. Quote Link to comment
zoogs
People like numbers, and Sean Callahan works for Rivals. It's especially pertinent to him It was a good first round for Rivals. 50% of the first round picks came from a pool of roughly 1000 players. The other 50% came from a pool of probably an order of magnitude greater. Quote Link to comment

ronsss
most of your top 5 ranked college teams will be loaded with 4 and 5 star guys....so it does make a difference Quote Link to comment
The Dude
So it's mostly about stars. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
An interesting overview from 247: Quote Link to comment
Dr. Strangelove
So it's mostly about stars.Pretty much. It's not an exact science, but those numbers don't lie. Particularly when you consider the number of 5 star players per year (approx. 25), a very high percentage of those are drafted in the first 2 rounds. Quote Link to comment
