Mavric
ZURICH — Swiss authorities conducted an extraordinary early-morning operation here Wednesday to arrest several top soccer officials and extradite them to the United States on federal corruption charges. As leaders of FIFA, soccer’s global governing body, gathered for their annual meeting, more than a dozen plain-clothed Swiss law enforcement officials arrived unannounced at the Baur au Lac hotel, an elegant five-star property with views of the Alps and Lake Zurich. They went to the front desk to get room numbers and then proceeded upstairs. The arrests were carried out peacefully. One FIFA official, Eduardo Li of Costa Rica, was led by the authorities from his room to a side-door exit of the hotel. He was allowed to bring his luggage, which was adorned with FIFA logos. The charges, backed by an F.B.I. investigation, allege widespread corruption in FIFA over the past two decades, involving bids for World Cups as well as marketing and broadcast deals. Minnesota_husker
I highly suggest watching the E-60 that discussed this. The FIFA is so corrupt and it starts with Sepp Blatter who will hopefully get caught eventually. FIFA has been corrupt for years, but awarding Qatar the World cup was the final nail in the coffin. When this is all said and done Qatar will lose the World cup that they should have never been given. Nice to see the United States were the only one with the balls to go get these cheaters. Wow. True dirtballs. This is crazy. please tell me you get the joke from that tweet.... Yes I do. The whole story is what I am referring too. I'm learning just how much corruption has actually been going on. One of the higher up's at FIFA even referred to himself as 'The Godfather' of women's soccer. Unreal. Also apparently the US got beat out to host a future world cup when FIFA instead chose a tiny country where the average temperature is almost 100 degrees. Just some crazy stuff I'm learning about. mrandyk
FIFA's executives have to go down for awarding Qatar the 2022 cup. Hundreds of millions in bribes and thousands dead all over a damn soccer tournament. These people should be behind bars for the rest of their lives. Say what you want about the NCAA, at least no one dies as a result of their corruption. Quote Link to comment

Minnesota_husker
Blatter resigned. BOOM Now please replace him with someone who isnt corrupt. Might be too late to pull the cup from Qatar..... But they need to fix what is happening over there or thousands of people will die building those stadiums. Quote Link to comment
