Take THAT...Bo!

Recommended Posts

Last 8 games last year we went 4-4 and now have gone 3-5 this season to start. This team has been playing ball at a rate below .500 for a calendar year. This is no coincidence this season is going this way right now. The only real difference is we didn't have Florida Atlantic and McNeese St to start the season off. We didn't have a bad Fresno St team on the schedule on the road. This team would have and could have beat those 3 teams.

On the referee's behalf, I'm glad the strap of Bo Pelini's hat didn't contact the ref, but man if that sucker had come around in hit the ref in the eye! WooWee! This dipsh*t could've got assault charges pressed on him right there on Tom Osborne Field! Now that would've been hilarious! (not for the ref obviously)

You don't have to talk to the recent players this year to realize Bo was bad for the team.

It fits the narrative so people will push that agenda.

Tom Osborne was around Pelini a lot. He had an opportunity to hire Gill and he had an opportunity to fire Pelini. Instead, he doubled down on him and also endorsed him for subsequent jobs.

Why do some Husker fans insist believing they know more about Nebraska football success than Tom Osborne? What sort of arrogance does that require?

It's really kind of childish to try to scapegoat your former coach. I'm sure some people think they look intelligent doing their revisionist history but really they don't. Bo wasn't the greatest, wasn't the worst. If he hadn't been fired and had the meeting with the p and c words, most people wouldn't be shouting all the vitriol and blaming him for the deficiencies of this current staff that has more experience than Methuselah and was predicted to make everything great again. It seems like there's always a group that engages in this crap and they'll probably be trashing Riley if it doesn't work out.

Ok, he strongly suggested Pederson and people like you, who think he's a god, followed his wishes. Pederson was hired because Osborne said so. Just because he was a great coach doesn't mean he's good at choosing/judging other people.

Wrong again.

Which part?

There's getting to be a decent list of fail lying at the man's feet. When posters claim so and so are against the program and are sabotaging it, it almost appears they're placing blame on the wrong person. He's had a hand in some pretty dismal hires the past couple of decades.

And this is and will always be a fundamental divide in husker nation.

Neither frank nor Bo were dismal hires.

Funny that he could complete screen passes last year... perhaps receivers, particularly running backs, aren't getting in the right position to receive those plays? Similar to how TA sometimes breaks pocket improperly.

no he couldnt

Id show you the film, but there isnt enough hours in the day. Watch the mich st game last year. That night is pretty consistent with Tommys screen ability. Beck didnt have a conventional back screen in his book.

Its been the knock on tommy since he first started playing. Lack of touch.

I think it's funny how many people here still think Bo was fired for not winning.

If Bo had beaten Wisconsin last year, he could have said f**k you to Shawn Eichorst's face and still had the job.

Or had he simply not been manhandled by an unranked Iowa to end the 2013 season.

I think it's funny how many people think Bo was fired for being "passionate"

Yep. Exactly.

At readily admit that I will actively advocate for keeping coach Riley if he can get NU to .700+, though unlike first time coaches such as Frank and Bo, I don't see his maintenance of that level of success as an indicator that he will be positioned to jump to the next level.

Osborne hired Pedersen to be his Assoc AD for football (basically his Jamrog) and his tecruiting coordinator for a couple years in the 90s. Also gave a string rec for pedersen for AD. Ive been told how ironic it was that TO took Pedersens place when it was TOs words that got Steve the job to begin with.

Lots of clips in these BTN specials on Brook and 94 that happen to show Pedersen roaming the sideline.

Yes, Steve Pedersen was a NEBRASKA GUY. GASP!!!!!

Solich failed. Pedersen failed. Bo failed. Miles and Erstad are each one more shitshow away from very hot seats. Its possible to be a great coach and great person and simply not be good at evaluating and selecting coaches. On the other end of that spectrum. TO didnt want Bo anyway. Bigshots did. And they run the show.

Yep. Steve Pedersen was the hot national AD candidate with Nebraska roots. He was the Scott Frost of AD hires and Nebraska fans generally thought we scored on that one.

If NU tanks this seasons, i.e., loses out, this staff should be summarily fired and Frost or gill or just about anyone else should be brought in.

So the answer to firing Pelini and making a rash choice in Riley, is to hire the guy with no HC experience who's been running someone else's pass-happy offense in Oregon, or the coach of Liberty University with the 52-67 career record?
