The fact that at one point we were down 42-16 to a 1-6 team who hasn't won a conference game in three years should be enough to cause some red flags for fans. Unfortunately, too many people look at the final score and think, "Well, we didn't do so bad since we only lost by ten points." BUT our defense surrendered 55 points to a team that ranks 103rd in scoring offense and 98th in scoring defense.

The score is no indication of how badly Nebraska got beat. This is the first time in it's 125 year history that Nebraska has a losing recording heading into November. Let that sink in for a minute. This season is on pace for being the worst season dating back to 1961 and pre-Devaney era. This is, right now, worse than the dreaded Bill Callahan era.

*edit* Okay, Bill Callahan's 07 team did have a losing record at 4-5 in November so as it stands, this current team is on track to be worse than that team.

The people saying he wont be fired after 1 year because there will be no coach worth anything who would want to come here...

You know what, Scott Frost would. And I get it, Frost may not be the guy for the job, he may be years away from being a good head coach. But I would be fine with a young Frost at the helm losing than an old washed up Riley at the helm, where I know he will be gone in a few years anyway due to age.

Let Frost come here, stick it out for many years. I will take a 3-9 Frost team over a 3-9 Riley team ebcause at least there would be hope Frost turned things around...

This is so bad. Nebraska football is a complete joke. We continue to be a joke with this nice guy at the helm.

I have no hope for this dude.

The only thing that's going to work and get people's attention is to let the sellout streak end................it probably won't happen, but it would make people go, "WOW! These people are serious!"

Actually I think the sell out streak is at jeopardy as we speak. Fan apathy has been discussed lately most notably from ESPN's Mitch Sherman and he's right. If I was a season ticket holder, I truly would have no interest in driving down to Lincoln to see us get blown out against MSU. Why do that when I could save on the gas and headache? We're 3-6 and I just wouldn't see a point in attending and I know people catch flak for feeling that way. Man... next week is going to be tough because its a nationally televised game.

You take 5 starters off of any team, let it lone them being the best QB, the best running back, the best all purpose guy, two starting defensive players, see what happens to any team.

No excuses, we lost, and Riley will feel the heat for it, but this crap needs to stop. Support your team, yea there are some not playing to the level you want or I want, but I think that all goes back to recruiting. I think some of the kids that get recruited are lower due to heart, not just athletic ability. I have always wondered about it, don't really know. Motor is a big statement about some kids, yet never mentioned about others.

Very hard day for all involved. Wish we would run a little bit more, but thought Fyfe made some great passes. Hit receivers in stride. He looks more like a QB than Tommy.

Stop making excuses. How can you compliment the team after we got BLOWN OUT by Purdue. How can you POSSIBLY compliment Fyfe after he single handedly lost us that game. You types of people are the reason we are in this mess because you SUPPORT this dumpster fire of a coaching staff.

10 point loss is now being blown out?

Youre f'ing joking, right? It was 42-16 at one point.

Losing by 10 to Purdue when you score 21 points in garbage time against a team running out the clock is a disgrace to bad teams. It is completely unacceptable to any football team that is trying to be relevant. How can you trail one of the worst offensive teams in football by 26 points? MR apologists should be writing speeches for politicians.

What the f#*k are you reading? The guy I quoted asked when a 10 point loss is considered a blowout and I enlightened him we were down 3+ scores at one point.

Calm down. I was agreeing with you and adding to your argument. I don't think Purdue has ever had a 3+ score before today :)

MR set up the job for the next coach. If Frost was here this year and went 8-5, there would be controversy. If Frost goes 8-5 next year it is a huge improvement. (Given there is a very small chance that Frost is here next year).

What is your end game here? You get get Riley fired in the middle of the season, then what? our Ginger AD goes after his 2nd choice to Mike Riley?

Or better yet, the AD gets fired? Then what? You get Trev? And he gets who?

No matter who is the AD that person will have to convince a coach to come here, I don't see that ending well.

I'm not criticizing I'm honestly trying to figure out what you want to happen, and how that will make us win again.

hire a coach that knows how important the run game is, and that having Fyfe throw the ball 48 times is probably a bad idea. Maybe even bring a defensive scheme that doesn't get torched by Purdue. Shouldn't be too difficult.

And that coach would be who? And why on gods green earth would he come to Nebraska?

Tom Herman and Pat Narduzzi. Two guys we should have hired this past offseason but didn't.

Right, because either one of them would choose Nebraska over USC, Miami, or South Carolina. And who knows what other jobs will be open. Why would a hot coach come to a place where they fire 9 win coaches and coaches after 1 year?? Why would ANY coach? You're basically telling coaches they have to win 10 or more games and/or win the B1G in your first year or you're gone. Good luck with that.

Yes we have injuries. Sure other teams would be fine. Other teams don't have walk-on QBs from GI as their backup. I think people are underestimating how divided the locker room is and how bad the depth is. Yes, there have been some bad coaching decisions, but pretty much every coach does that at times. If you truly want the Huskers to be better, then you'll support the team through this and see how Riley does next year and the year after that. Asking for him to be fired right now will only make us worse, MUCH MUCH worse in the long run.

well he was agreeing with you.

it is still the responsibility of the purdue defense to stop the nebraska offense no matter how much time is left. the fact of the matter is they lost by 10 points.

I'll never understand why when we score points at the end trying to catch up it's because the other team "let up". In the same vain, I don't understand why the same line of thinking isn't applied to our guys when the other teams scores some at the end trying to catch up. Fans are fickle beings I suppose....

Probably simple to explain. When teams are scoring on us in garbage time they also shut down our offense. When we come back the other team continues to score so although we make it close it's still not being competitive. Both situations leave Husker fans disappointed.

It was 42-16 before Purdue let us back into the game. 42-16 to the worst team in the conference. Correction SECOND worst...

So we all know that pressure from boosters usually helps to put heat on the administration, but how do we fans (the little guys) let the board know we are not happy? I'm thinking of a social media petition, an organized protest, or something along those lines, but not really sure what is most effective. And the frustration of NU fans goes well beyond just this season.

I'm petitioning to whoop your ass.
