Are you predicting or did he commit?
West Palm Beach (Flor.) Oxford Academy LB Willie Hampton is the first commit for #Nebraska in 2017 class. Had 117.66 SPARQ rating. Insane!

Looks like a freak athlete. This is the type that will probably be rated at least high star by the end of it. And will get a lot more offers.

According to his ESPN profile - which has the SPARQ rating - he ran a 4.53 40 and had a 35 inch vertical.

That'll do.

Feels like a Quayshon type....(not the way he plays)

Committed early, fell in love with school all before even visiting. Excited to see where he gets rated. I bet they give him a grade here within a couple weeks if not days.

Say what you will and we will see where he gets rated, but that's pretty awesome recruiting by Bray.

Bet he starts out about 83, but will definitely have a chance to increase that as he is evaluated more.

Yup, wants to this spring or summer.

I agree. The services rarely, if ever, give an unrated player anything higher than an 85 3 star right out of the chute.

His SPARC rating would have placed him 7th overall at the L.A. Region of The Opening. He would have been the 2nd ranked defensive player behind Lenoir, who is also strongly considering us.

Obviously, he is a very good athlete. I love the fact he really wants to play for Nebraska and I hope it all works out for him and the Huskers.

It will be interesting to see what happens now that he is going to become more of a known commodity. What other teams will offer? What type of rating will he end up with...etc.?

Kind of reminds me of William Johnson the early commit from last year that flipped to UAB. Has excellent athleticism and speed for his size and committed to us out of nowhere. Looks to be a guy that could play OLB and in certain situations rush the passer. He will need to work on his bend on his pass rush. He seems very straight up and down, but man can this dude run. Excited to have this guy and hope his recruitment blows up and he can help peer recruit us some Florida guys.

Well if his numbers for ht, wt and 40 are right, he will play somewhere certainly. Good size and and if he can add about 30 pounds and stay under 4.6, good middle backer. We want a bunch of guys with this kind of speed all over the DEFENSE. A great way to start. As guys start speaking up, the numbers of commits will jump I suspect because the classes will fill. This could be a sign that the silence will become deafening as the 'booms' begin.

Perhaps he ends up at ILB, but if you read anything so far, all signs point to OLB.

Clouse seems to think he'll blow up now, fwiw.

He reminds me a lot of Deion Jones from a couple years ago. A bit of an unknown commodity but had tons of speed for a LB, then as soon as he committed his recruitment blew up. Jones ended up to be quite the player for LSU. Hopefully we can hang on to Hampton.

He already had a UCF offer.

Seems like an exciting player and I hope he makes it here. But the ease and quickness with which he committed makes me think of the phrase "easy come, easy go." Hopefully I'm wrong, as that SPARQ score is mouthwatering.

247 initial ranking of 87. Not to shabby!

If committed to tOSU, miami, usc, etc he would have been a 4*. So sick of biased rating services.

If ESPN doesnt have him as a 4* with THEIR sparq rating being that high, then there is no question.

While I think he is very deserving of his 247 rating and perhaps even higher, this should be a huge indicator of how fickle these services are.

The kid went from unranked and basically unheard of to supposedly the 68th best player in the state of Florida in a matter of hours of committing to Nebraska.

Right, but on the other hand, maybe they were just getting to him. I mean those SPARQ scores are recent, right?

That one still hurts, seen him ranked by Kiper I believe in the top five at his position

This staff immediately recognized that speed at linebacker was a huge deficiency. They are doing something about that. Great sign

I wouldnt call our LBs speed deficient.

But anyway, nice pickup. Glad any time some commits to attend NU.

He is a bball player or trackster? With those numbers, I'd think he'd be tearing it up. I always liked following Gerry's progress in HS track.

Everything I've seen on this guy says he has loads of athleticism but it's hard to tell how instinctive he is at this point or how he handles the really physical part of the game. There's not much film to show this. Apparently at the level he is at he can get by with his athleticism without being fundamentally sound. He'll have to learn all that at the next level.

Really? All I can remember is every linebacker getting beat on swing pass after swing pass and always being three steps behind whoever they were chasing before Mike got here
