The General Election

Recommended Posts

A firm run by Donald Trump's campaign chairman directly orchestrated a covert Washington lobbying operation on behalf of Ukraine's ruling political party, attempting to sway American public opinion in favor of the country's pro-Russian government, emails obtained by The Associated Press show. Paul Manafort and his deputy, Rick Gates, never disclosed their work as foreign agents as required under federal law.

That's a whopper of an opening paragraph, Red. Woah.

That's a serious enough accusation that I would expect Congress to open up another investigation into Benghazi.

Trump was doing his best last night to be presidential and admitted some mistakes in things he said.

1) I don't think that him acting that way can last

B) A little too late to do some image rehabilitation

I heard that this morning and about puked.

Why did you about puke? Seriously, Trump has given many strong policy focused speeches this week that were on message and with the right tone.

His apology for maybe saying things that he shouldn't have.

He has spent his entire campaign brushing off or completely denying saying ridiculous and outrageous things that are insulting. At times he has acted proud of it and ridiculed people who claim he has said things he shouldn't have.

Now, I'm supposed to believe that..oh....I"m sorry....I shouldn't have said these things???? Give me a friggen brake. The only reason he said what he did last night is because his campaign is in the tank, he's going through campaign chairs faster than he goes through bottles of hair spray and probably every single one of them have constantly told him behind the scenes to stop being a jack ass.

So.....NOW....all of a sudden he has seen the error of his ways and he's not a jack ass anymore????

Give me a break........

And this made you want to puke? Wow, you must have a nervous stomach or something.

Looks like Trump & Pence are planning to do a fly over photo op to LA despite a request not to come if they aren't helping in some way.

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards' office said Trump had not called to discuss plans to visit, but that the New York businessman was welcome to volunteer or make a sizable donation toward helping victims.

"We welcome him to (Louisiana), but not for a photo op," the statement said. "Instead we hope he'll consider volunteering or making a sizable donation to the LA Flood Relief Fund to help the victims of this storm."

Nice spin. Trump is the only Presidential candidate giving this Katrina like tragedy the attention it deserves. Meanwhile Obama is having a great time golfing. As i pointed out in the other thread, a prime example of the MSM showing its bias and hypocrisy as they chastised Bush for not showing up or seeming engaged enough with Katrina.

http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/kyle-drennen/2016/08/18/nets-compare-louisiana-flood-katrina-ignore-obama-vacation

Katrina like tragedy???? Really?

I have family in Baton Rouge. Yes, the flooding is bad. But, this is NOTHING like Katrina with the total devastation that hurricane left in it's path. To compare the two is ridiculous.

Criticism of Bush at that time was totally out of line and criticism of Obama over this is just as ridiculous.

Over 1,800 people died in Hurricane Katrina. So far in these floods the death toll is 13.

We don't know where this current tragedy will end, but it's the worst US disaster since Sandy, and Sandy was supposedly the worst disaster since Katrina. So I'm not saying its apples to apples, but you hit on something important that I highlighted and aligns perfectly with the MSM bias we are talking about in the other thread. This is the point...the press went after Bush viciously for not seeming involved enough with Katrina, yet have waited until today to even question why Obama has remained out golfing while all of this is going on.

Apologies are only good for limited out of character actions. We know what character Trump has and any apology regarding his inexcusable behavior and actions over the past year is downright laughable. The guy is scum and if he were truly sorry for his actions we would see the end of his childish behavior (hint: fat chance).

OK, guys, let's walk back to Katrina.

Why was President Bush criticized so harshly for that one?

I will jump at every opportunity to bring this gem up:

Well played, sir. You beat me to it. This should be played any time this subject is brought up. Truly timeless.

As far as Trump in Louisiana, it sounds like he went down there for a straight publicity tour and to wave and smile and act like he cares. i heard many people asked him for his autograph or for selfies.

If he's so rich, why doesn't he open up his pockets and donate something that could actually help?

I can guarantee you he didn't write those words. He read them straight off the prompter.

Furthermore, the word choice is telling. "He regrets choosing the wrong words." I regret getting a speeding ticket. Not because I feel badly about it, but because I got caught. Trump never really said he was sorry. Regretting something and saying "I'm sorry" (and meaning it) are two completely different things.

Lol. Yep, pretty much.

Hey, at least he has made an attempt to apologize. I agree it takes more than one speech to do so, but he's done way more than Hillary has for her many lies. When has Hillary apologized for lying to the families of Benghazi about why their sons were killed? She hasn't...she's just continued to lie.

Somebody needs to look into this!

In NC yesterday Trump did an ok job with the teleprompter speech until the very end when he said,

“You're living in poverty (fact check - about 25% are, similar to other minorities), your schools are no good, you have no jobs (fact check - unemployment rates are similar between all races). Fifty-eight percent of your youth is unemployed (fact checked not true, in order for this to be true it would have to include all African Americans down to high school age). What the hell do you have to lose?” Speaking before another largely-white audience in a town whose population is 93 percent white, Trump said, “And at the end of four years, I guarantee you that I will get over 95 percent of the African-American vote (right now he hovers between 0 and 1%). I promise you. Because I will produce.”

I expect offensive, flagrantly incorrect statements from Trump, what shocked me on this one was actually the response of his Sr. Adviser when asked by CNN why Trump was trying to woo Black voters at rallies populated mainly by white audiences, and where few african americans live. “Maybe it would have been nice if he went and had a backdrop with a burning car,” Kingston replied. "His rallies are open to the public. Last night in North Carolina we saw a lot of African-Americans. I wasn't sure about the crowd content tonight… but they’re open to the public, and I mean, there’s nothing exclusive.
