Danny Bateman
Nice. He's so petty he wouldn't even inform Mattis of his decision himself. He got a lackey in Pompeo to do that for him. For someone whose entire TV persona was built around firing people, he sure sucks at firing people. 1 Link to comment

Danny Bateman
This seems like something Republicans would have made into Armageddon if it had come out of Obama's mouth. "I don't need to name anyone for these positions. I'll just let lackeys run wild and free for as long as possible because someone like Whittaker will probably protect me." Another norm gone. 2 Link to comment

knapplc
Only The Best People Quote Federal prosecutors broke law in Jeffrey Epstein case, judge rules A judge ruled Thursday that federal prosecutors — among them, U.S. Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta — broke federal law when they signed a plea agreement with a wealthy, politically connected sex trafficker and concealed it from more than 30 of his underage victims. U.S. District Judge Kenneth A. Marra, in a 33-page opinion, said that the evidence he reviewed showed that Jeffrey Epstein had been operating an international sex operation in which he and others recruited underage girls — not only in Florida — but from overseas, in violation of federal law. “Epstein used paid employees to find and bring minor girls to him.,’’ wrote Marra, who is based in Palm Beach County. “Epstein worked in concert with others to obtain minors not only for his own sexual gratification, but also for the sexual gratification of others.’’ Instead of prosecuting Epstein under federal sex trafficking laws, Acosta, then the U.S. attorney in Miami, helped negotiate a non-prosecution agreement that gave Epstein and his co-conspirators immunity from federal prosecution. Epstein, who lived in a Palm Beach mansion, was allowed to quietly plead guilty in state court to two prostitution charges and served just 13 months in the county jail. His accomplices, some of whom have never been identified, were never charged. Link to comment
Danny Bateman
Nothing says "I'm going to look out for American workers" like a guy who broke federal law in service of a wealthy pervert. Link to comment

knapplc
And back to Jared Kushner news. Shocker - it's not good: Quote Trump Ordered Officials to Give Jared Kushner a Security Clearance Donald Trump ordered his chief of staff to grant his son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, a top-secret security clearance last year, overruling concerns flagged by intelligence officials and the White House’s top lawyer, four people briefed on the matter said. Mr. Trump’s decision in May so troubled senior administration officials that at least one, the White House chief of staff at the time, John F. Kelly, wrote a contemporaneous internal memo about how he had been “ordered” to give Mr. Kushner the top-secret clearance. The White House counsel at the time, Donald F. McGahn II, also wrote an internal memo outlining the concerns that had been raised about Mr. Kushner — including by the C.I.A. — and how Mr. McGahn had recommended that he not be given a top-secret clearance. The disclosure of the memos contradicts statements made by the president, who told The New York Times in January in an Oval Office interview that he had no role in his son-in-law receiving his clearance. Asked on Thursday about the memos contradicting the president’s account, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, said, “We don’t comment on security clearances.” Oh, well. I'm sure our buddy Jared is being a good American and using that security clearance sparingly, him being an amateur in foreign relations and all. From last year: Quote Kushner Requests More Intel Than Any Non-NSC Employee at White House Senior White House adviser Jared Kushner, whose inability to obtain permanent security clearance has come under renewed scrutiny in recent weeks, requests more information from the intelligence community than any other White House employee who isn’t working on the National Security Council, according to an unnamed source who spoke with the Washington Post. Kushner continues to only have interim security clearance after 13 months in the White House, since his background check still isn’t finished, most likely because he has had to repeatedly revise his disclosure form regarding foreign contacts to add information he had previously omitted. At this point, it’s reasonable to wonder if the president’s son-in-law will ever merit permanent security clearance, yet in the meantime he enjoys access to classified briefings, top-secret and sensitive compartmentalized information, foreign leaders on behalf of the country, and, according to the Post, more requested intel than anyone who isn’t a member of Trump’s National Security Council. Despite White House assertions otherwise, none of this is normal — either how long someone as high-level as Kushner has been able to keep their temporary clearance, or how long it has taken to do the background checks across the White House, according to experts on the subject. And yes, failing to disclose foreign contacts, let alone three times, would typically jeopardize one’s chances at passing muster with the FBI. 1 Link to comment
TGHusker
^^The Mafia boss wants his family in on the action and the mafia boss gets what he wants. It is time NYSD put an end to this organized crime group that has settled into the WH. I wonder how much of the info Jared gets helps the family business?? And some of us thought Hillary would be a corrupting figure in the WH! I think she would have been amateur hour in comparison. 2 Link to comment
