Moiraine
Trump's ego couldn't handle stepping down. In fact, I think if he loses the election in 2020 he'll try to refuse to leave. Link to comment

TGHusker
I wonder how much longer Sessions will be around. He has now publicly defended his decision to appoint the inspector general to review the FISA wiretap situation and he has not given into Trump's madness. https://www.newsmax.com/politics/sessions-trump-fisa/2018/02/28/id/846003/ Link to comment
Moiraine
The fact it's for HUD makes it look even worse, imo. How can they be that out of touch? Some of the struggling neighborhoods HUD pinpoints have houses that sell for less than that dining set. Link to comment
BigRedBuster
Dammit. Nobody should be extravagant except the Trumps. One weekend at Mara Lago costs more than that table. 4 Link to comment
TGHusker
And now this, one of Trump's other young advisors and perhaps one of his closest is leaving. Just a matter of hours after her appearance before the House Russia panel, Hope Hicks is leaving. I highlighted the bold - remember Trump always hires the best and most qualified. As perhaps so many have found out, Trump is impossible to work for and impossible to 'manage'. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-hicks/in-blow-to-trump-top-aide-hope-hicks-to-leave-white-house-idUSKCN1GC36J Quote A one-time aide to Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, and with no previous experience in politics, Hicks was one of the first people hired by the then-New York businessman when he began his campaign for the presidency. An aide said she had approached the president and told him she wanted to leave so she could start exploring opportunities outside of the White House. Robert Trout, a lawyer for Hicks who has represented her in the Russia investigation, declined comment. Among the issues Hicks declined to discuss with the House panel was her part in drafting a statement in July 2017 misrepresenting a July 2016 meeting at Trump Tower that included the president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., other Trump associates and Natalia Veselnitskaya, a Russian lawyer. One weekend at Mara Lago costs more than that table. The argument is that the room and table was over 60 years old. However, the problem is that Ben's wife appeared to be the driving force behind this, the optics are terrible and the timing is even worse - after announced cut backs within the dept. There may have been a need for a make over - but a $31k table -- doesn't fit the narrative. 1 Link to comment
TGHusker
I think Trump is in meltdown mode - He attacks his own AG and calls him Mr Magoo (yes there is a resemblance - but it displays a maturity of a 5 year to do so) https://www.yahoo.com/news/jeff-sessions-hits-back-donald-001348185.html https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/trump-calls-jeff-sessions-apos-073059111.html He berates Hope Hicks. Who later resigns. https://www.yahoo.com/news/donald-trump-reportedly-apos-berated-105613461.html Trump is now looking for his 5th communications director. Link to comment
TGHusker
Ben cancels expensive table, etc --- See HB does have influence. You know he saw our comments. https://www.newsmax.com/politics/ben-carson-furniture-hud/2018/03/01/id/846216/ Quote Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson said in a statement that he had requested the cancellation of a $31,000 furniture order, CNN reported. "I was as surprised as anyone to find out that a $31,000 dining set had been ordered… I have requested that the order be canceled. We will find another solution for the furniture replacement," according to a statement provided to CNN by Carson adviser Armstrong Williams. "I made it known that I was not happy about the prices being charged and that my preference would be to find something more reasonable," Carson said in the statement Link to comment
