It always amazes me how we keep finding more and more oil. 3-4x bigger than the N Dak field.

My family owned mineral rights in ND and the land was bought to search for oil.

yes they are 'finding' more oil all the time but more importantly is that they are finding ways to drill for and get it out for us. Our domestic oil production, despite the Dems best efforts to keep us dependent on mid east oil by regulating and legislating and litigating away our production, development, refining and other efforts to produce fuel and other products from domestic sources.

 

Drill baby drill! Solar,nuclear, wind, geothermal, hydro and other power souces, 'renewable or not' are all important but it will be a couple decades before we can be completely energy self reliant and ultimately will be a net exporter, reversing the negative cash flows of the past 35 years. Trump needs to have his JFK 'appollo' program for American jobs and energy dependence. I think it will happen as this is what Trump and the business minds do. Build and grow businesses. America is a business and needs to grow.

It seems like this find, plus the North Dakota strike from a few years ago, would allow us to gradually extricate ourselves from the Middle East—both oil wise and militarily. Let them kill each other for a change, and leave us alone.

I guess cutting oil company's billion dollar tax breaks, not approving a useless pipline for export, not stopping fracking, and protecting ecosystems is trying to keep us dependent on mid east oil.

News flash. We haven't been reliant on Middle East oil for some time.

Yes, that is one of the strategies used by Reagan to undermine the Soviet economy. He partnered wt Saudi Arabia to drive down prices via over production. Deeply hurt the Soviet economy which was heavily dependent on oil revenues.
