Saunders
2016 Game 12 “Expert” Picks: Nebraska at Iowa ————— CollegeFootballNews.com http://collegefootballnews.com/2016/nebraska-vs-iowa-prediction-game-preview Nebraska just keeps on chugging. The Huskers might not be dynamic, and they might not do anything amazing, but they got the win over Minnesota they needed a few weeks ago, and without Tommy Armstrong, they rolled over Maryland with the ground game picking up the slack. While they lost to Ohio State and Wisconsin, they’re at least still alive. They’re in the position to potentially come up with a special year and get to the Big Ten title game with some luck, but to do that, they’ve got to figure out the Iowa defense. The Hawkeyes might not have much going offensively, but they picked it up against Illinois in a shutout win to follow the huge victory over Michigan. They might not be in the hunt for the Big Ten title like they were last season, but they can close strong and make this a terrific year with a win this week and a bowl victory. There’s no real complaining about a nine-win season. To get there, the run defense has to continue to be dominant. After getting destroyed by Penn State, the Hawkeyes stopped the Michigan and Minnesota running games cold, and now they’ve allowed fewer than 100 yards in three of the last five games. Considering Armstrong still has a hamstring issue, stop the Nebraska running game, stop Nebraska. Meawhile, the Hawkeyes have weapons of their own with Akrum Wadley and LeShun Daniels finding their groove again at the right time. Last week, Daniels owned Illinois with 159 yards and two scores, while Wadley was the star against Michigan. Nebraska’s run defense allowed just 11 yards against Maryland and stoned Minnesota, giving up just 85 yards. The D line has been terrific, while the O line has been good enough, with Terrell Newby running for three touchdowns and an effective 98 yards against the Terps. He’ll have to do more of the same, and against the Hawkeyes, he won’t. Iowa is feeling it now. The offense might not be explosive or impressive, but it has something to play for as the spoiler against the Huskers. Wisconsin probably won’t need the help, but Iowa will end the West with a solid, defensive-oriented victory at home. Nebraska 20 - Iowa 17 ————— Athlon Sports http://athlonsports.com/college-football/nebraska-cornhuskers-vs-iowa-hawkeyes-preview-and-prediction-2016 If Tommy Armstrong plays, we're in for a terrific matchup featuring two of the most seasoned quarterbacks in college football. If he does not, Nebraska is in for an uphill battle on the road against a very physical football team. Regardless of whether or not the Cornhuskers' signal-caller goes under center, Nebraska's defense is going to have its hands full with Iowa's running game and quarterback C.J. Beathard's playmaking ability. As a result, expect Iowa to win the time of possession battle. When Nebraska has the ball, the Husker offensive line is going to be facing a defensive front that is quite simply more violent and physical. That's going to make rushing lanes tough to come by and throw off the timing in Nebraska's passing game. Iowa wins a low-scoring game that really isn't as close as the score would indicate. Huskerlad
Nebraska wins big, if they blitz often. If not, Bethard may have a field day. Quote Link to comment

BIGREDIOWAN
Stop the running game and you stop Iowa. C.J. hasn't been the same QB this year, not even close! Iowa's offense is ranked 121st in the country, Nebraska's is 73rd. Iowa's defense is ranked 30th in the country, Nebraska's is 21st. Their defense isn't any better than ours, their offense isn't any better than ours. In fact the only area in large statistical categories where they are ranked better than us is on passing yards allowed and special teams, *surprise there*. I could care less that they beat Michigan, that proves nothing to me. I don't get the love here, is Iowa ranked? No, they aren't, so there is ZERO reason would should lose this game. I realize it'll probably be closer than we like, but looking at everything we shouldn't be losing this damn game. Sorry, at this point I'm tired of listening to Iowa fans! 2 Quote Link to comment

skersfan
BRI, I know how you feel, but we do have two injured QB's and one that has not taken a snap being talked about. If Tommy is 95% I think we win. Ryker last week without the broken wrist a good shot to. I know the kids want this game, but we have problems, that for any team, be it us or Bama would have some problems overcoming. No doom and gloom, but can see why a loss could happen. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Mine was great, spent the whole day playing Monopoly with my grandkids. Never watched a second of football. Quote Link to comment

Seems like these guys usually pick the other team in close games. fwiw, I agree with them. Huskers will win! Quote Link to comment
BigRedBuster
How many of these picks were made when nobody thought Armstrong or Fyfe could play? 1 Quote Link to comment

Oh I get it, but there are ways to plan our game plan to help with some of this. Now whether our OC will do that I can't say! Quote Link to comment
