Who's Had Their Husker Moment?

Recommended Posts

I was just thinking about the Michigan State game years back, where you could say it was Brandon Reilly's Husker Moment with that game winning touchdown. He had a good career with Nebraska, but that was his moment. You look at a fan favorite Jordan Westerkamp and say his was the Hail Mary NW TD Catch. Janovich's TD run against Wisky to get us the lead late.

Who on the current team has had their POSITIVE Husker Moment? Generally speaking about older players on the team...

Again, try and keep this about positive moments. I realize it's sort of hard, as the players on this roster right now haven't exactly had many big wins.

I feel like we are still waiting for Stanley Morgan's big moment, unless you feel it's his long TD last year against Wisconsin - even though we ended up losing.

JD Spielman's opening kickoff return for a TD was just the beginning and I probably won't vividly remember his 200 yard receiving games up to this point in losing efforts.

Martinez is going to have a bunch of MOMENTS.

Aaron Williams' moment is definitely the pick 6 to take the lead against Wisconsin last year. I won't forget that play.

Bryan Reimers would be his game-winning TD against Oregon.

I'm struggling to think of anyone else ever coming up with a big play in a big spot to take a lead or win a game... Is that a good sign or a bad sign?

You literally went against everything I asked for in that initial post, however, you're not wrong.

It's one of the few positive moments I've seen this year.  It at least made me smile.

Agreed.  It's like when cotton fell out of his stance.  You'll never forget it and you laughed.

Stanley Morgan has had a few of these plays. Both that I'm thinking off happened against Purdue I believe.

Too bad that Morgan's time at NU is during our darkest 4 year stretch ever. These are some great catches in these posts that I don't even remember because so many of these games, and entire seasons, are forgettable altogether.

I know it's water under the bridge now, but on this particular play, why the hell did Lee even throw the ball to Morgan when the DB's arms were literally wrapped all the way around him at the time? Trying to pick up a PI?

Spielman's touchdown return on the kick off last year against Arkansas State

That would be wild if his career moment happened on the first touch of his career. And kinda disappointing.

Dial it back a bit further.  IMO Stanley Morgan showed his toughness at Miami.

He was showing some underclassmen flashes here and there up til then.  That game proved he was an elite-type (college wise with pro potential).

Such improvisation. Such funk.

Even if he had knocked the guy down and tackled him, it ALWAYS annoys me when a defender cheers a big hit after the other team gets a first down on the play. You failed your job - no one cares if you hit him hard. You're celebrating a failure.

Now in this case it was a super failure.

Spot on young lady, you nailed it.  Be about the team, wrap up, make the tackle and the team celebrates with a victory.  Rather hey look at me, look what I did!!!  Too bad you can't see the crap running down his pants leg, because that is all he did.

Ooh man, now I really hope a couple of our resident posters don’t see this thread, or the one about special teams.

Looking at that.  It does look as though we might have been setting up the onside kick.  We had 5 v 3 that side....If not.....

Do people really get mad about these?

After the Purdue game I made a post about having someone make a gif of Lightbourn when he slipped and fell on the punt. Two folks had a conniption fit about it and went on a virtue signaling mission about it. For whatever reason they don’t seem to mind this time around.

People in the game thread were acting like it was Lightbourn's decision to try an onside kick.  It was weird.

Say what you want about Caleb Lightbourn, but he is the only player in here with two, count them TWO, "Husker Moment's" in this thread.  In my opinion, that earns him:

It's been said already but it's obvious they were going for the onside kick, more evidence is at the end of the play the Nebraska player on the 43 yard line jumps up and down like he was excited about a missed opportunity.

Frost has said it was an onside and that it factored into his decision to kick it deep after our final TD.

I’m perplexed how anyone thought otherwise before the post-game, but I’m especially befuddled that there is any doubt now.

Really never heard during the game to be honest. It was such a horrible attempt, I really wasn't sure.  Based on initial observation and past performance ie the KO out of bounds and the punts......

That is indeed a bad sign. It means we lack playmakers, and while that lack can be either due to lack of ability, heart, or due to yet developed talent, it is still a lack that has led to a whole lot of L's as of late.
