No hustle, no box out, no understanding how to attack a zone. The blueprint is in place for what will keep the Huskers out of the NCAA's.

All good points.  I would add Tim Miles.

And I would add no recognition of who is the best 3 point shooter and that he should not get unimpeded shots.

Plenty of base. The last two games haven't been against BIG 10 Elite.  Guess what happens when we play Mich, Mich St and Indiana.

I felt like I was watching Open gym.  That is the way the Huskers play at times.

This is beyond true.

if the last 35 minutes of this one when Iowa switched to the zone wasn’t enough base for ones eyes, just pop an any tape Tim’s whole tenure when the opponent went zone.

Been saying it for years, full to 3/4 court pressure back into a zone and you’ll get yourself a double digit win against NU

His teams always struggle when the key guy is cold.  The have no back up plan.

They struggle rebounding.  He can’t recruit a big guy.

Who else would you blame?

We were best 3 pt. Def. Team the league going into tonight.  Because we do not have depth we get into the same issues. When we have to help down we get exposed,  plus when palmer is off or does not get the call he does play d

Do you think Tim Miles is a good coach?

Key guy??? It was the whole team.   Our major problem is rebounding and this is miles fault for not recruiting any big guys before heiman

3 things I can count during a time Miles coached game at Neb. Long scoring droughts, bad play calling and getting out coached when it matters.

The lack of ability to attack a zone properly (Miles lack of coaching) will force us to shoot late in the shot clock either a long two or a three. Lack of hustle on close outs, not  boxing out (all coachable skills) lead to 2nd chance points by opponents.  If Tim is coaching those things and the players refuse to do them then they need to sit on the bench.

And recruit a 3 point specialist. That 6’1” white kid that sits in the corner a drains 3 when you need the most.  God I love to have one of those.

It’s not an indictment against the overall 3 defense, it’s a continued trend that an opponents best 3 shooter has been left open far too often for years.

Its called a pregame scouting report.  You know where every coach says DO NOT LEAVE THIS SHOOTER TO DOUBLE OR HELP NO MATTER WHAT!!!!

Every team says this pregame

Lol, but if you have to go to zone due foul trouble that is a problem.

This is a bad loss in the sense that NU was favored and Garza was out (right, he did not play at all)

It is not a bad loss in the sense that it will look bad on the resume.

It is a bad loss in the sense that other teams will cleary slap a zone on the Skers a bit more now.

For the Miles lovers (you know who you are) this one is tough to defend, it really is.

For the Miles haters (you know who you are) this is the type of game that is served up for you to use to defend your stance.

Palmer was only 0 for 5 from 3.  The other starters were 2 for 13.

They can’t get inside to save their life.  They haven’t been able to as long as I remember.

Live by the three and you’ll eventually die by the three.

Both are premature, but posters are bi-polar.  Lose, we are terrible & win we are great. Minnesota has posted how great we are going to be.

A coach can easily switch to a zone defense to prevent further foul trouble.

And that arguement has little to do with leaving a teams best perimeter shooter.  Applies zone and man.

Fact today, Iowa’s second or third trip down the floor, NU defender leaves Weiskamp(a 44% shooter from 3 mind you) to run at the big guy making his first start pass to Weiskamp who buried a wide open 3.  KNOW YOUR OPPONENT AND YOU DONT LET THEIR GOOD GUYS BEAT YOU.

To be fair I have been a Miles defender and I'm not now a Miles hater.  I can however see the writing on the wall that he will most often coach Nebraska to win a few big games but lose to .500 teams.  He relies on transfers and juco kids and won't put a good "team" on the floor.

Sort of...but it is way more likely to assume that Miles will have a team NOT make the dance.

It really isn't "bipolar" to think they won't make the dance...especially since their lone conference win (I think) is at home vs one of the worst teams in the nation.

But I still think that if they win out at home, they are in.  That is all the need to do.

We scored enough to win.   This is on Miles for having no depth & no big guys on our bench. We have a 3/4 playing the 5, a OL walk-on & fr.

Not exactly saying that. There several posters that over react both ways.   That's what makes me laugh.

We were out-rebounded by nearly 30%.  That seems to be a pretty good basis for no box out and no hustle.  And we continued to jack threes against their zone despite shooting 17%.  That would seem to be a pretty good basis for we had no idea how to attack the zone.

Those comment seem pretty well-founded by watching the game.  Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they have no base.

I will agree, jucos are 50/50. I don't mind transfers, if they commit for more than year.

The quality wins that would come from that would be great.  But that is beating MSU, OSU, Wisky, Minny, Maryland and Iowa among the others.  All teams that can out muscle and out athlete NU.  And most those teams can do that without having to play a zone.

In what 5 years now. He’s not recruited a decent big 6’9” or bigger with mass or a 3pt shooter. It’s just slashers and guys the play one on one ball.  Webster supposed to be a PG but I find him standing in the corner half the time.  Talent can only wn so many games.

Whoever gave the eyeroll to the post about poor effort, how do you think this is good effort?

Where is the team that was flying around the court a few weeks ago against Creighton?

It was NOT me - however it can be hard to play aggressive when the ref thinks any contact with an iwogeain is always a foul on NU.

Both coaches and players are mentally weak on the road with out the buttressing factor of supportive home crowd.
