QB play is a SYMPTOM against a quality line, not the disease.

A lot of teams and QBs will have career days against Illinois. Martinez is not the same this year and it was obvious the first game.

Nebraska needs to go 2-2 in the next 4 games 

Northwestern, Minnesota, Purdue & Indiana and then beat Maryland. Two of those are road games and the SF Huskers only won their first of those at Illinois. Winning the West is a pipe dream with our Less-Than-Special-Teams and exceedingly offensive Offensive line play.

 

Frost needs to eliminate single points of failure (like Pickering) and focus on getting and developing linemen before this program takes the next step.

Everybody goes after the QB first after a loss. We were overmatched in every way...they could've scored 100. Our defense couldn't stop anything they were doing. They didn't need to bring a punter. 
It only counts as one game. We can win most of the rest.

Concerning trying a different QB, if a player wants to run off because the second string guy got in the game then I say good riddance. The times they showed the players on the sidelines, there seemed to be a lot of comradery and support amongst the quarterbacks. I don't get the feeling that any of them would start crying if their teammate got a shot. There's nothing to say Vedral would've been more successful given the total team beatdown, but it wouldn't have hurt to change things up just to see what happens.

Putting in the second string QB after the starter is faltering does not mean you want to replace him, but that perhaps he needs a mental reset.

I agree. And maybe the starter would benefit more from watching what's going on from the sideline rather than running for his life.

Exactly those 4 games plus Maryland are all winnable. Ohio State is on another level in terms of talent and coaching than just about every team in the conference and as long as this team doesn't let this loss follow them for the rest of the season they shouldn't have a problem making a bowl game.

Also, the bad OL play has everything to do with it. It's in AMs head and he's rushing his plays. You see it with QBs all the time with poor olines. 

Incorrect.    The first INT was all AM.  The offensive line did not force AM to throw the ball inside the receivers body instead of leading the receiver or throwing it away. The second INT should have been a TD if throws the ball more towards the side with touch instead of straight over the defender.  The third INT, the receiver was wide open and should have been a 15-20 yard completion but was a complete overthrow.  

 

The O-line was not good, but AM was as bad as I’ve seen him.  He’s been missing receivers, and throwing to bad spots all season long this year, been indecisive, and looks scared out there.

If it’s in his brain, then you just made the case for switching QB’s, at least for a few series to let him calm down.  It also may give your team a better opportunity at that moment in time

The snaps are problematic, but AM doesn’t see the field well enough. That has been evident against mediocre teams so far this year and just gets accentuated against OSU. 
 

He is also widely inaccurate. He had guys last night, but he kills YAC with his poor throws. He misses guys wide open by making poor reads. 
 

The guy has just looked bad this year. Not sure if it’s teams now having a season of tape on him or if he has regressed, but Illinois game isn’t proof that this is an anomaly. Illinois lost to eastern Michigan. Gave up 20+ points to a bad UCONN team. 

 

I’m not calling for his backup, but he is a major problem with the offense. OSU is going to score 30 points a game if they stay healthy. They don’t need help with turnovers.

Yup, you're right the players he jumped to throw over here didn't affect this throw at all. 

 

 

I'm not saying AM was good or didn't make bad decisions. I'm saying the offensive line play has gotten in his head.

He didn’t need to jump to throw the ball, and the little jump is what caused the ball to sail.  Throw to the correct spot, trust your mechanics and assume you will get hit.  The ball should have been completed. QB’s don’t always have a perfect throwing lane.  I also don’t like how shallow of a drop back he is getting.  May be by design, but would be nice to give the line more of a chance to build a pocket since they already struggle.

This is exactly my point though. I recognize he didn't need to jump and when he watches the film so will he. 

 

The problem is his tackle is ice skating backwards for the hundredth time this year and he feels the need to jump, or scramble or throw to soon or whatever it may be. It's in his head. Does that mean he's not at fault? No, but it has clearly gotten in his head.
