Biden set to announce.  BIG MISTAKE IMHO.   He is stifling the development of his party - younger candidates must rise to the top.   Trump is doing the same on the GOP side.  The egos involved are beyond measurement.    70% of people polled in the 2 polls noted below don't want either one to run again.  Party leadership is failing America.

President Joe Biden may be 48 hours away from announcing his reelection bid. But nearly 3 out of 4 Americans are hoping he has a last-minute change of heart.

According to a new poll out Sunday from NBC News, 70 percent of Americans do not want Biden to run for a second term, compared to only 26 percent who do. Among those who don’t want the 80-year-old president to pursue a second term, 69 percent cite age as a reason why, with 48 percent calling it a “major” reason.

Worse yet for Biden, the new survey shows him facing a steep uphill climb in a general election. The NBC poll shows 41 percent of Americans plan to vote for Biden in 2024, compared to 47 percent who say they will back the Republican nominee.

If there is a silver lining to the dismal numbers for Biden, it’s that he is still more popular than his most likely 2024 opponent. In all, 38 percent have a positive view of Joe Biden, compared to 48 percent who have a negative view. And while those numbers might ordinarily spell doom for an incumbent seeking a second term, they are significantly better than those of former President Donald Trump — about whom just 34 percent of Americans hold a positive view, compared to 53 percent who have a negative view.

About 44% of Republicans don’t want former President Donald Trump to run for reelection, according to a new poll.

The poll, published last week from The Associated Press and NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, found that 70% of adults, regardless of party affiliation, don’t want Trump to seek another term in the White House, compared with 30% who disagreed. Some 93% of Democrats said the same, along with 63% of Independents.

The results also differed depending on respondents’ education levels. About 65% of people with no college degree said they didn’t want Trump to run for reelection, compared to 80% of those who have a college degree.

Biden is in the bind we all saw coming in 2020, but chose to postpone worrying about.

Democrats had a wide-open choice of newer, younger and more charismatic candidates in 2020, and after ignoring Joe Biden in the early primaries, they ran to his side on Super Tuesday to save them from their wandering ways. Those newer younger Democrat candidates trailed behind equally aged Bernie Sanders and Mike Bloomberg, fwiw.

Changing horses now admits the mistake, loses the historical value of incumbency, a opens the field to the same clusterf#&% of 8% candidates grappling with each other. The plan was for Kamala Harris to use the VP office to remove all doubt about the heir apparent, but that's been a strange saga with as-yet unrevealed motives for her invisibility.  I don't think she's any better liked and trusted now than we she pulled out of the race with low single digit support in 2020.

Is there one Democrat name that makes you go "Whoa. That could work." ?

Yes, there were other options than Biden and Bernie.  But, voters didn't like them.  It was either the guy who was viewed as a radical left (Bernie) or a moderate (Biden). Voters chose moderate.  Which, I was happy for.  However, I wish a younger moderate version would appear.  Maybe even multiple choices of moderates.  But, I haven't seen them.

So, we are stuck with Biden, or candidates that are way left or way right in wacko land.  If that's my choice, I'll take Biden.

Surprised she said it but most likely true.    New fear tactic being used -  a vote for Biden is a vote for Harris.

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley said Wednesday that President Joe Biden, 80, will likely die within five years and that his supporters would have to count on Vice President Kamala Harris if he were to win re-election next year.

“He announced that he’s running again in 2024, and I think that we can all be very clear and say with a matter of fact that if you vote for Joe Biden you really are counting on a President Harris, because the idea that he would make it until 86 years old is not something that I think is likely,” Haley, 51, said in an interview on Fox News.

Behind the scenes: Biden's close advisers say he's mentally sharp. But even some of themconcede his age has diminished his energy, significantly limiting his schedule.

  • Many White House officials say they're amazed at Biden's stamina — often adding the caveat: "for his age.”
  • Some White House officials say it's difficult to schedule public or private events with the president in the morning, in the evening, or on weekends: The vast majority of Biden’s public events happen on weekdays, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m

Funny thing is, the bolded is what Republicans are trying to convince voters that he's not.  The rest....nobody is shocked by that.
