Josh Pate on Can Nebraska football still be fixed

The other thing that changed that final four years was Perlman's behind the scenes meddling

And yet when Bo was given the non-meddling embrace of Jim Tressell and his low-pressure hometown college team, he quickly wore out his welcome at Youngstown State. Allowed to return to his previous position and glory at LSU, he completely embarrassed himself and was fired.

Perlman had nothing to do with the product Bo put on the field. Bo coached his last four seasons at Nebraska with a contract extension and an increased recruiting budget. That he might rub a Chancellor the wrong way doesn't appear to be on Perlman exclusively.

Nebraska has a new chancellor, a new AD, and a new coach. We play in the Big 10, a conference where teams like Indiana, Minnesota, and apparently Illinois can enjoy success with the right coaching changes. According to your own positing history, losing to the teams Scott Frost has lost to is categorically unacceptable.

Per usual your post is equally self entertaining and inaccurate.

Yes.

But it's not like there are only these two options, right?

1. Nebraska fans still expect to get back to consistent Top 5 - 10 finishes.

2. Nebraska fans "settle" for a 9 win minimum.

I feel like maybe you're leaving out one critical detail: Frost has a .36 winning percentage and is a complete trainwreck. So it isn't "settling for a 9 win minimum"...it's taking baby steps and crawling out of the dumpster fire we're stuck inside of to even get to 9 wins again.

Agree. It's two or more stages. I think everyone would be happy to get back to a Bo Pelini kinda record, but forget that the reason for his firing after 7 seasons.....that we actually expected more.....wasn't entirely unfair of us fans..

Iowa State, Iowa, Wisconsin don't have top 10 recruiting classes

THey don't have top 20 classes either

Doesn't seem to hurt them.

A decent coach with top 20 recruiting classes would probably not be having losing seasons and sure as hell wouldnt be losing those players every year. how could they? having good  players solves a lot.
