  1. I forget who posted it, but I read maybe my favorite joke ever on this message board. "I like my coffee like I like my ladies; hot and all over my crotch when I'm driving".

  2. Looking at the facts of the case Tim, he sold his penthouse for $18mm while it was valued at $1.8mm and assessed at I think $850k. He probably had to pay the gains on that sale. It then sold for $13mm later. Maybe the buyer over paid because it was a celebrities house. They can't write off that loss if it was their primary home. So some of the taxes were captured. I get it. You don't like hypocrisy and want everyone held accountable to the same standards. The problem these two situations are not the same. Assessed value rarely if ever equates to market value. Nor do assessors increase assessed value to match sale price. I know this because I'm good friends with our county assessor and they have told me so. Assessed valuation changes occur when overall neighborhood marked trends dictate an adjustment, or if there is a material change to the property. Trump over inflated the value of his properties (and factual characteristics of the properties) to represent a better Loan To Value ratio, thus earning him a more competitive rate. Stewart sold his home to a willing buyer for asking price.

  3. The ADL isn't posting on Huskerboard my friend. Keep track of your own arguments. I thought we were talking about ADL calling things racist and acting like we shouldn’t use 100% because racists are using it, and now we're talking about some vague hypothetical slippery slope unrelated to ADL. Not sure if you don't get out much or what, but people still use the okay hand symbol all the time and it is just fine and without a second thought (for the record, I absolutely agree that the controversy over the ok sign is ludicrous, but that's a different conversation). So to recap: • You claimed that, "the Looney Left thinks just about everything is racist" with your supporting 'evidence' that doesn't actually show anyone calling anything racist, but rather only documents racist people doing something. • You claimed that, "the ADL is way out on its skis with this one", even though all the ADL has done is document something that exists in the world (with visual aid photos even). • You claimed that, "50 plus 50 is 100 and that’s not racist. Using, I’m committed 100% is not racist. Answering a question about liking something with 100% is not racist." which...okay, you are right about that, but sir this is a Wendy's and nobody made any claims otherwise. • You claimed that, "The ADL is acting like we shouldn’t use 100% because racists are using it now" even though they aren't acting like that and haven't. • You claimed that, "People claim every white person who does the okay symbol is flashing a racist sign.", which.....lol. Show me one single person making this specific claim that every white person doing the ok sign is flashing a racist sign and I will immediately concede the point and agree that this is a notable subset of the population who think this way. and on and on and on. Actually an impressive total accumulation of absolute fantasy.

  4. That's the thing. It's worth what the market will bear. So if someone makes you an offer, that is the market price. If you want a buyer to offer you 10 times what you paid for your house, you can sh!t in one hand and wish in the other and see which one fills up first. Stewart's wish hand just happened to fill. And again, the two examples discussed are vastly different circumstances.

  6. The reason people like Tim brought Stewart into this is because they thought they were pointing out the hypocrisy of him calling out Trump. That's what internet personalities like him do; digital dunking on someone. But like I said, they are two different scenarios. I work in a field adjacent and we rely on the property owners to at least be somewhat close in their applications. So much so that the signature pages state "To the best of your knowledge" about statements of fact. There is an allowance with in reason. The magnitude of difference here lead the judge to determine intentional fraud. There are some wild parts to this case, I'll grant you that. But according to the law, it's fraud. Whether an appeals court will overturn it remains to be seen.

  9. My English department tried to get him to speak (zoom) a few years ago, maybe?? But it just didn't work out for some reason, I think just the timing of it. They really had no idea how to handle him on The View, I think mostly because 1. He is right (not leaning, just he is correct) 2. He does a wonderful job not walking into their questions 3. He stays calm By the way, if you get a chance, read up on the Woke Kindergarten that he started to talk about and of course, was quickly cut off.

  10. Kinda depends what people mean when they say "stronger." To some that means more caffeine, to some more flavor. The press definitely amplifies the flavor. The amount of caffeine in coffee is tied to how the beans are roasted. Darker roasted coffees lose more water/oil during the roasting process. Caffeine is leached out via that moisture, so the longer the roast, the less the caffeine. Which is a bit counterintuitive to some people, who believe darker roasts are necessarily "stronger" coffee.

  12. How do you know the Earth's climate has changed over billions of years? How do you know that the Earth didn't used to have glaciers? I mean, I knew that, too. I was a geology minor at UNL. Always found it fascinating. The Earth has been through its share of extremes long before humans came along, much less AOC. The reason we know all this about the Earth is because scientists dedicated their lives to studying it. And it's those same scientists who know perfectly well about the Earth's violent past who are tracking the 100%* undeniable fact of global warming, glacial melt, climate change and severe weather increase. These f#&%ers are so smart they took that cold week in Omaha into account. When asked for a reason for this rapid of a change in this particular Earth window, some theorize that the trillions of tons of carbon thrown into the atmosphere since the industrial revolution could easily have that effect. Some point out that volcanoes do the same thing. But the smart ones point out that human industrialization can affect the Earth's climate just like historic eruptions do. One hardly excuses the other. It was the tree huggers at the Pentagon who identified climate change as the worst threat to global stability. Maybe you could take it up with them. In the meantime, under the cloak of socialism, the push to more efficient energy usage turns out to have a strong business innovation, jobs creation, and American intellectual property component. I guess horse manufacturers were threatened by the arrival of the automobile back in the day, but we survived, and somehow managed to live with a lot less horses#!t. * Mathematical probability, not racist.

  14. I just found this company about a year ago. https://www.freshroastedcoffee.com/collections/coffee/roasted-coffee+single-origin+caffeinated+medium?page=1 They have a really cool informative website where you can filter your search. I've been on a world tour of coffees trying to find my favorite. I stick with single origin coffee, whole bean. You have to at least grind your own. The Kenyan Peaberry is up there. The Ethiopian Sidamo Guji and the medium Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Kochere are great too. But I've yet to try one of their coffees I don't like. I like a lighter roast level (used to think bold was the way) as the subtle flavors don't get burned out and a more bold roast body. I really like the African coffees because of there fruit notes. Something I was ignorant about until I found this site. For more earthy notes look to the Indonesian beans. Central American are great too with more chocolate notes in general and usually lower acidity levels. The company itself has been great with customer service. I make my coffee with a cheap Mr. Coffee espresso machine. It does the trick (for me) as well as machines costing a lot more and I just look at it as disposable. They last four or five years so I get my money's worth. I kind of feel like I lost a lot of coffee years using Starbucks or the like. It's always a crapshoot on how fresh their beans will be.

  15. Guess I’ll have to try the Komodo Dragon. I did a quick search and didn’t see it available in the K pods but we still have a coffee grinder and that little strainer pod (which has never actually been used yet ). Sam’s Club has the Sumatra in 72 packs and you can usually get it on sale for about $32. When I retire I’ll get serious about my coffee and get a french press and do it right. The Keurig is just way too convenient and consistent.

  17. I'm going to admit I'm a low life coffee drinker. During the week, I wake up around 5:30 and my first cup is instant. I know...don't judge. I'm still half asleep and have no desire to make it any other way. I sit on the couch and drink my one cup before getting up and ready for work.

  18. Sometimes you can find good grits. These were good. I always like to find local food. Shrimp in Alabama seemed like the thing to do. Yeah...I usually like to find a local place. But, there weren't any within walking distance and I was tired....didn't want to drive more. Plus, wanted to have a few drinks and didn't have to worry about driving. This was actually a locally owned place that happened to be in the hotel.

Trump found a bank willing to loan him money based on what the banks market would bear. He made offers for a loan, bank accepted them after doing their own due diligence. Bank was repaid, bank wanted to do more business with Trump Org.

  32. All for the best, imo. The time is now for Hoib's to try to take this team from a team that was celebrated for making the dance for the first time in a decade to one that can actually make the dance consistently and even a short run here and there. Players like Wilcher won't get you there. There is zero special about that guy. His ceiling is too low to even be a floor guy for a contender. Whether or not Hoiberg can bring in better remains to be seen, but staying pat with players you know aren't at the level you want your program to be at isn't the move, either.

  38. I saw it in a movie. Scientists are super smart. Scientists do great work. The climate does change. Glaciers so melt, and freeze. Humans do have some effect on the climate. I’m pretty sure nuclear war is a greater threat than climate change, so yeah, I guess I take it up with them. Damn tree huggers ruin everything. Yes less horses#!t but it ended up changing the climate to a serious 10 on a scale of 1-10. Sounds like we should have stayed with the horses#!t.

  47. You know what happened with the okay hand symbol? People still use it. It typically requires context. As mentioned: Damian Lillard hits a three pointer, no problem. Cop holds it up at a George Floyd rally, worth looking into. Don't recall the "okay" issue coming up the last couple years. Don't expect the 100% controversy to disrupt the math community. Totally expect the worst douchebags on the internet to stir up outrage wherever they find it. Can't let it dilute legitimate outrage. Because when Nick Fuentes is a dinner guest of the once and future President of the United States, you can't make fun of dog whistles anymore.

  49. The ADL hasn't made any claims even remotely like this. They have a database of things used as hate symbols, and they explain what the thing is and why/how it's being used and that's it. You and notthebee both agree with the only assertion being made by the ADL which is that racists are using 100% in a racist way. You're arguing against ghosts. No they aren't..? What in the world are you talking about? (that's rhetorical no need to answer)

  50. Well in the example provided, the people who monitor right wing and extremist messaging are alerting us that the racist community is using 100% as one of its codes for white supremacism. It shouldn't mean that everyone using the 100% symbol is racist, but it's a fact that it's been co-opted by organized racists and prison gangs. They also alerted us that the "okay" finger symbol had been co-opted by white supremacists -- as was Pepe the Frog -- which didn't mean that Damian Lillard was a racist for celebrating a three pointer, but some police officers on a social media post most definitely were. I mean, I never knew that 6MWE was code for "6 Million (Jews) Weren't Enough" until insurrectionists put it on t-shirts, just one reason why January 6 was such a teachable moment. If you take a gander at the rest of Not The Bee's content, he loves context-free over-reactions. He seems almost giddy that the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed in crime-ravaged Baltimore due to a boat from an immigrant country and that the ramifications will hurt the economy under Joe Biden's watch.
