  1. I saw films of Abdullah when he was in high school. He was amazing. I can't believe he actually ended up here at NU. As far as I am concerned, Rex will retain his status as the No. 1 RB. Having a back up like Abdullah is nothing but a huge plus. When Rex graduates, then Abdullah will be able to step in and make his own legacy. We should all be thankful that we have these two, plus the others that make up the stable of running backs.
  2. Walking down the steps in the north stadium after the game and had a really good conversation with a Wisconsin fan. He was very humble, very congratulatory and complimentary about the Huskers. Wished us well for the rest of the season. No hostilities at all.
  3. Tom Osborne, a humble man, the epitome of what it means to be a decent, quality human being.
  4. True! However, those types of critical knee injuries can often plague a person for a lifetime. Being an athlete, being young, having the proper medical personnel do the surgery and being involved with expert rehab are crutial to a full recovery (if there really is a full recovery). I hope his family finds the right combination for all that to come together.
  5. The original saying goes like this, "Kick a mudhole in their AZZZZ and stomp it dry."
  6. Did it mention which teams they were against?
  7. Belief in the human condition.
  8. who said he is married? But I have heard that they are planning to get married soon. He has said that this has changed his perspective on things. Yes, having a kid can do that to you. I hope he has a financial plan to support the family because I do not want to pay for it.
  9. Well, it is a win-win for me. I called The Dish last week and bitched about the BTN being dropped and told them I was going to switch to Direct TV. The Dish then lowered my bill from $132/mon. to $88/mon. life is good.
  10. Lyle Bresmer. Bremser was good in his early days. Late in his career, if you were at the stadium listening to him on KFAB, you would wonder if he was watching the same game you were watching. He could not keep the numbers straight, did not know who was coming in the game and who was going out and would often refer to the offense as the defense, etc. Sad that it had to end that way. My favorite Bremserism was, “Man, woman and child, did that put em' in the aisles. Johnny Rogers just tore em' loose from their shoes.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLvv3KPNHfY
  11. So, I have been on the phone several times today with Dish. They have insisted that they are still in negotiations with BTN. In fact, the information I received is that the BTN would not let Dish air the broadcasts while the negotiations were on going. One person I spoke to said to expect resolution within 7-10 days. I also got dish to give me a sizable discount when I threatened to switch to DirectTV. It went from $132 per month to $88 per month. They even threw in the movie channels for free for three months and if I decide to keep them, they will be half price for the next three months. The woman said they had received many calls about the BTN situation and did not want to have their customers switch. I hope what she said was true, otherwise I will be going to Direct.
  12. Play smart and you don't have an argument on officials and the calls they make.
  13. Time to put down the booze. Get your teddy bear and go to bed.
  14. No.and as far as I'm aware that isn't a football or athletic department reason, it's a university legal one. Carl Pelini and Sanders had the same problem. It was called chronic "zipper atrophy.”
  15. If JP's goal is to win all the rest of the games, he had better figure out some magical way to keep opponents from running up 600 plus yards on our defense. Having a goal is one thing, getting the job done is a very different animal.
  16. Kids leaving programs isn't good no matter where they are!
  17. What defense would that be? I did not see anything that remotely resembled a defense last Saturday against UCLA.
  18. Defense=Run to the ball, gang tackle, run through your tackles, take the proper angle, play your gaps and knock the crap out of the opponent. No defense should be "too hard to learn." Whenever I go to a high school game and see coaches on the sidelines giving all kinds of hand signals to the players on the field, I simply wonder if it is more about the coaches trying to make an impression on the fans rather than turning the kids loose to play the game. Why should a defensive play book be complicated? No amount of scheme or technique on defense can trump physical desire to play the game. UCLA game is a prime example of a team that played hard, and because of that they won the game fair and square. You can have all the stars you want in your back pocket but when you line up on defense, don't try throwing them down in front of your opponent and expect them to just roll over and back off. You have to be able to freaking kick their rear ends.
  19. Affirmative to that! He is by far the fastest Husker on the team. He pulled away from the D backs on his long run. Hell, he can't play both offense and defense. I agree that Taylor is doing well. But calling his the fastest on the team by far is... probably very inaccurate. Bell, Heard, Turner, Walenwaber... and likely 2-3 DB's that we have all are as fast (either the same, slightly less fast, or slightly faster) than Taylor. Again, Taylor is very fast... but so too are others on the team. Actually, on the field and from my reckoning (as best as one can measure such things), Jamal Turner is the quickest and fastest player on offense anyway (which is much easier to measure than is the speed of defensive players). He is explosive. Another is Braylon Heard --- he is so smooth and seemingly effortless in his running that he does not "appear" that fast --- but look at those around him and wow... that guy can fly. The point is that Taylor is very fast but NU has many guys that fast. I would put him against anyone on the team. He actually ran away from the D backs on his TD run. Explosive? Martinez has the quickest burst for the three steps as anyone we have. Jamal or Heard have any 92 yard TD runs?
  20. Affirmative to that! He is by far the fastest Husker on the team. He pulled away from the D backs on his long run. Hell, he can't play both offense and defense.
