  1. Yep, Power football for sixty minutes and they can win. Keep the Ducks offense off the field and do not let them get in rhythm. Langsdorf needs to have the OL lean on their D and just pound them. My fear is he will panic and start going for the big play, and NU will get lots of quick three and outs. Then Oregon will roll NU. Their speed will be hard to match. The thought of Banderas running sideline to sideline make me want to start drinking now.
  2. The offense has no real identity. I swear they are throwing darts at a board for the play call. Once TA goes, I think NU will have a passing identity. The D line is not getting a push and good passing teams will torch them. The Wyoming QB was hurt which explains the turnovers. Banderas is too slow. Put him at END next week. Recruiting better bring in some quicker DEs.
  3. I'm probably in the minority on this, but if NU could run the ball down a team's throat and not have TA pass much, I am all in favor of it. TA will NEVER be an Eli Manning so let us all hope NU plays to his strengths. Tommy left, Tommy right. Tommy up the gut. I am glad NU did not decide to get fancy and go into Dan Marino mode. Hopefully the next round of QB recruits fit what MR wants to do from a passing perspective.
  4. I think the buy in will be greater this year and will show on the field. 7-8 wins. My concerns are with Armstrong and his decision making. Langsdorf doing a lot of "TA can be Dan Marino" type series (3 and outs). Banker being predictable, predictable, and more predictable. Not attacking and getting heat on their QB. My hope is MR saw how good TA can be on the ground and infuse that into the play calling. More motion and wham blocks by Wrs..
  5. I was beyond shocked with him as the coach choice. I am pleased with the culture and recruiting that MR has brought so far. Guys were open last year in the passing game. Year 1: I expected things to be up and down. Just no so many drastic high and lows. Year 2: I expect consistency. Improvement on defense. Less WTH moments. Armstrong to be coached up. Banker to bring pressure. MR loses points with me if doesn't manage the clock well, doesn't commit to the running game, and let's the OC act like he has Marino throwing passes. I'd let my boys play for MR. He would teach them how to act like a real man and do things the right way.
  6. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm signing up for Vue today.
  7. i got rid of Direct TV largely because I can watch the NFL now through Verizon on Apple TV, but I found out the the BTN does not offer a stand alone package for football. I'm not getting anchored into a cable/sat company's month bill as we watch Netflix. Other than a bar or the like, are there other options for viewing? I just want NU football.
  8. If you buy scalper tickets, make sure the seats are together. I've seen a few sell and try to sell pairs that were in different sections. I would suggest either going through Stubhub or the ticket office.
  9. I saw this article at sportsdailybusiness.com. This has to help NU. Makes the move out of the Big 12 so much more sweeter. Time to pay the coaches too. I also like that more games are going to Fox. Less of Beth Mowen is ALWAYS a good thing. The six-year, $2.64 billion media rights haul represents a big win for the Big Ten Conference, of course, which will see its average media rights payout nearly triple when it takes effect next fall.
  10. Here are a few that I thought were absurd. I could not find Joe Daily running out of bounds with no time left against Southern Miss. This would have been the winner for me. Others I remember and would rather forget. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yTVtSoeVZA The A&M dirtball going after Cotton's nuts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jboOs9HVBDA Darian Hagan with an insane (forward/illegal) pitch. Could pitch with either hand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krbY20fKHWw Cotton falls down out of his stance...ugh. Downright embarrassing. Honorable mentions: Nebraska verse Ball State. a dropped pass and missed FG at home that would have beat NU at home...absurd. Sam Keller knocking out the Missouri fan. Late hit call on Courtney Osborne against AM. Glad to be out of that crappy conference and paid off referees. Kenny Bell vs Wisky. LOL Legal hit. Nate Gerry getting ejected verse Iowa and UCLA. OU and Keith Jackson....yeah lived it.
  11. Langsdorf showed me he can get guys open. Banker showed me squat. JP will get those guys flying like their balls on fire. I see the Huskers having another losing season. Armstrong isn't a good fit and Langsdorf will panic and be pass happy. This said, the program is headed the right way. Wins/losses are important, but character is what wins life battles. I believe MR will teach the players that. He will make them better men.
  12. Make safety changes, educate better, and change the rules are reasonable steps. There has to be some responsibility put on the player and their choice to be part of a team. The game is a hitting sport and that involves risk. No one is making them play the game. If the scholarship is worth the risk, sign up and play. If not, play flag football at the YMCA. Ed is better suited to call table tennis, but I'm sure he would want to replace the paddles with something a little less aggressive.
  13. A win may help with recruiting. Players need to be subbed in for experience and morale. Duh. More practices are good. Pressure is all on UCLA. No one in the media is giving NU a chance.
  14. The players get a Fossil Watch for playinig. I'm always glad to see NU football. Hated the year NU didnt go to a bowl. Made the offseason that much longer. Beat those Bruins! Give em hell.
  15. The worst thing was the guy who caught the TD is playing against my fantasy team. I hope the whole Lions coaching staff is canned and they bring someone who knows how to use AA.
  16. There is a lot I did not love this year about the coaching but i have some hope. There were MANY open receivers this year that Armstrong either never saw or thought he saw something else. He wasn't recruited to be Eli Manning but expected to play like him. . MR needs to show his system to get better recruits. I'd prefer power over a pass happy game any day and every day, but since that is not the plan, I might as well embrace the vision. I'm willing to give MR a pass because some kids may not have wanted to play for MR and halfed it during the season. Their heart may not have been in it. As they graduate or transfer out, we can see what MR brings to the table. Good or bad. It appears the recruiting is on the upswing compared to past years from what I read. Defense- They played better at the end of year but I'm not 100% sure they could play worse. I'm not a fan of Banker, his crying, or his scheme. I'm willing to accept the idea that talent in spots was weak, no depth, over thinking/switch to a new system, and general confusion for this year. Banker needs to figure it out or he's going to Bohl MR right out the door. The special teams were not great either. Lot of work needs to be done IMO. MR is on a three year plan this year with me. In three years. NU will have seen a large enough sample of the offense, defense, and sp teams. Everyone can look at the recruits and see if he is drafting talent or guys that cannot cut it for whatever reason. We will see the W-L record. If NU is getting their butts wiped or competing every week. We will be able to see if 4th and 1 is a doable down or a mind numbing, bang your head on the wall collection of crap. Is clock management improving? Do they know when to kick a FG? The jury will be out in a few seasons if this was a good hire or not. Everyone in Missouri wanted Pinkel fired, but he gradually shifted the culture and won. I do not want the Huskers to be the college version of the Oakland Raiders. Firing coaches left and right. Never getting any consistency. Lastly, i want the coach to win since he's at NU. If he's fired, I no longer care about Mr. I will not follow him. This is the same for BO, Frank, and Cally.
  17. I learned when down 11, with the wind behind you, a fg may help you more than a fade. In the NFL 6 and seven loss seasons are acceptable not in college. NU has a NFL OC. Not a college mindset. If you don't allow others to play and build depth, when injuries and ejections happen, you are hosed. The players didn't quit. NU didn't get blownout all season. This offseason the coaches need to come with some imaginative running plays for TA. Play to the kids strengths.
  18. Roads are a little icy but driveable. Just drove downtown. No problems.
  19. I'm staying with family off 76th and van dorn. It sleeted here for a long time. The roads are icy. My wife went to toys r us and had issues on the bridges. Could barely get up the incline to the driveway. Be safe at there. Leave plenty of room.
  20. Please don't run Cross wide. The Wr screen doesn't work if QB is slow getting it out if his hand. Flea flicker...please. Tell Armstrong to throw it out of bounds instead of a blind heave.
  21. May the gods hear you victor! ((Glad you think Iowa's D is not up for the game)
  22. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/husker-ticket-holders-offered-chance-to-buy-tickets-to-six/article_7e1a0b0e-909f-11e5-a1f7-e35d8a1f1ba4.html?_dc=483115623239.4278 Chance to buy tickets to the bowl game for season ticket holders.
  23. NU will have to stop Iowa QB from rolling out and making easy plays. The DE can't pinch down and let the guy flank them. The QB and RB are quick. I think there will be tons of tosses and sweeps to see if they can contain. I don't see Armstrong being turnover free. The OC still thinks he has Eli back there. Since Iowa runs better than NU (that sucks saying that), Iowa wins. NU ends up in the squatty potty bowl.
