    It was a rough day yesterday at Nebraska Kearney.  4.6 million dollars in budget cuts throughout the university forced them to cut $450K from the Athletic Dept.  Adios mens baseball, tennis and golf.

    I can't figure out exactly why Steven Colbert does nothing for me on The Late Show.   I loved The Colbert Report.  On the other hand, I know precisely why I can't stand Jimmy Fallon.

    I'm going on a ski trip over the break and I've never been skiing or snowboarding. Any recommendations from some of the more alpine members as far as goggles, helmets, gloves? Obviously I don't want to drop a lot of money on first time equipment as I probably won't be going regularly. Should I rent a helmet/goggles or buy my own?

      Unless you're going to make it a new hobby, I'd say renting is the way to go for skis/snowboards and boots.

       

      You can get decent goggles for under $50 at any sporting goods store. Rent a helmet. It's usually pretty cheap, and the last thing you wanna do is get your bell rung on your first ski trip.

       

      I would say pony up and get some good gloves and socks. You'll be glad you did. evo.com, rei.com, and the-house.com have good deals on gear and accessories.

    Guns N Roses concert in Denver was amazing last night. Slash still can bring it on the guitar, and Axl's vocals were way better than I expected. They put on a great rock n roll show.

      Bummed I missed GnR with Alice in Chains at Arrowhead a while back. Sounded like an awesome show, but was too leery of Axl pulling his usual antics and not showing up or something. Glad to hear it was a good show.

    Very sad to hear of McCains condition last night. Truly went to bed feeling very depressed. He is a true American, politics aside he is someone like no other in our existing generations. We have been so lucky to have him so visible in the US for so long - it will be the end to an era.
