  1. I agree with all of this with the exception of Danny Langsdorf. This is more likely after viewing Herr Frost's playbook...
  2. Has anyone actually looked at Trev Alberts' resume? If he wasn't from Nebraska, fans would be screaming bloody murder if he got hired. Couple years at a D2 school 5ish years in the Summit League which has no football. Has never hired a football coach. Did Nebraska suddenly move to the Mountain West or Conference USA and I've been asleep in a time capsule somewhere? I get hiring someone with Nebraska ties but this seems ridiculous.
  3. Thank goodness for Nick Saban. No coach in their right mind would take a job in the SEC knowing they have to face up that monster. LSU is screwed with Coach O, dude is a great motivator and can succeed in small spurts (case in point, USC interim job) but no one in their right mind should turn the keys over. LSU is going to be in a similar spot as NU where they clip their AD first and then possibly their coach. Alleva is a world of trouble. Gotta think Petrino is going somewhere if Jackson leaves for the NFL. When Jurich got canned I think I read that Petrino's buyout got cut in half. As for Frost, a tip of the cap to him. UCF looked dynamite last night. My only knock on him for the Nebraska job was lack of HC experience. If he can flip UCF into a 10 win team 2 years after they went winless, he's got a believer in me.
  4. Not sure what you're getting at here. Mond is playing a lot due to the starting QB getting injured and A&M having no other real depth around him. A&M has been a carousel of transfers when it comes to QBs. Also, Sumlin differs from Riley in that he regularly does a 2 QB rotation. Lastly, I wouldn't say Mond is an 'improbable success story' he was a consensus 4 star recruit out of HS and was ranked as a top 3 dual threat QB. http://www.espn.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/112251/how-they-got-here-a-texas-am-qb-timeline
  5. I learned I don't hate the concept of a NU Friday football game. I woke up this morning thinking about my usual Sunday routine when I realized it's Saturday. #FreeDay #YOLO Parrela has earned his bucks this year. The DL is playing pretty salty. Stille had a nice coming out party. Hopefully the training table pi$$es in Diaco's Cheerios a couple times this week. They need to be ready for a knife fight come next Saturday. When Chris Jones and Simon Phoenix (Kalu) come back, hopefully that will give Diaco the confidence to roll up some more press coverage. OSU's 4x100 team they have cooking @ WR doesn't need a 10 yard head start every play. Plus, the thought of their King Douche WR coach being able to gloat if his guys have a big day makes me sick. Nice to see Decker take control @ C. I know there was lots of talk if he would ever see the field. Jaimes held up pretty well against Illinois' only good DE. The Riley era comes down to the next 2 games, if he wants to save his job, they need to find a way to win one of these games. Going on the road to PSU and snatching a victory seems highly unlikely right now.
  6. Very true, that's why betting the under on a game sucks lol. You're praying for long extended drives that stall in the RZ and end up in missed FGs or turnovers haha.
  7. #6 I don't care how Nebraska gets back to the top. If they need to break some rules to do it, so be it. I'm not personally affected if Nebraska football wins or loses so I'd prefer they win. Shoot, look at USC when they had Reggie Bush, nobody talks about how they were dirty AF any more.
  8. You could always bet the unders. The total is around 47 right now. If the game ends up where you're thinking. Winner winner chicken dinner.
  9. Opposite. Money being bet on Illinois would cause the line to go down.
  10. I think you're on the right track Undone. We're really heading into uncharted territory when it comes to Nebraska athletics and that is due to TO starting to drop further into the background. Whether you agree with it or not, TO is/was the biggest power broker in the state. For all the things we loved about TO you can't deny that he was financially conservative and who can blame him? Nebraska experienced near unprecedented success under his watchful eye as a coach. I question though if his approach hurt Nebraska when he transitioned out of the head coaching spot. We need to put to rest the notion that Nebraska can try and get an elite coach 'on the cheap'. We've tried the NFL hot shot (Cally), we've tried the up and coming coordinator (Bo) and we've tried sleeper pick (Riley). Nebraska is a blue chip stock when it comes to college athletics. We deserve a blue chip AD and if it comes to it, a blue chip coach.
  11. No, I understand where you're coming from. Your statement insinuates that it's time to turn over the reigns to a native Nebraskan because it worked out last time. I believe that Nebraska excelled due to TO being at the helm, he just happened to be from Nebraska.
  12. . This statement is so flawed I'm not even sure where to begin. It's akin to seeing a spot where lightning struck once and standing in the spot until it strikes again.
  13. I think this will play itself out honestly. If Nebraska $hit$ the bed this year we'll probably see most of the high profile recruits flip/struggle to fill up the rest of the class with "difference makers". Elite kids wanna play for a winner and if Nebraska ain't winnin' this becomes a pretty easy decision.
  14. Yeah, I was thinking that too but didn't want to look like a flip flopper in my statement haha. Definitely a fine line to walk.
  15. I agree with all your points here. The only thing that I'm not as sure on is the 'need' of boosters to fund as much with the frankly ridiculous amount of money Nebraska will be taking in from the Big Ten for the time being. Sure, you still ask the boosters to fund it because good business sense dictates you never try to use your own money when funding a deal especially when you keep control for the most part. That being said, Nebraska doesn't 'need' the boosters as much when it comes to athletics as maybe they did before the influx of TV dollars.
  16. New Mexico State comes within a whisker of beating Arky. Baylor/KState is the most entertaining game of the weekend. Michigan State/Iowa play a game of 'first one to 17 points wins'
  17. Mike Dudek is going to be KJ Maye 2.0 tomorrow. Hopefully he doesn't kill Nebraska.
  18. Nebraska is rolling out one kick a$$ intramural flag football team right now @ WR and TE....and that is no bueno.
  19. Can't forget about Chris Leak (Florida) won the NC before Tebow took over also if you remember Urbs from the Bowling Green days he had a stud QB named Josh Harris that was a ton of fun to watch.
  20. Hey, I kinda like Ryan Nall! Nall would probably start for Nebraska.
  21. UNO and UNL were in two different hemispheres when it came to recruiting for wrestling. Even if UNO had kept their program when they transitioned to Division 1 there is a pretty big difference between the caliber of wrestler that Nebraska would be able to land versus what UNO could land. UNO's roster would've looked a lot like South Dakota State's. UNL also finished in the top 5 in '03. '07 and '08
  22. For some reason the fact he's a senior slipped my mind. I know he has a RS available. Yeah if he plays at all this year he's gone. The news of him coming back earlier than expected is very exciting news. Nebraska is going to need every bullet in the clip available to fight through this season.
  23. What has me worried about Purdue is they run a similar offense under Brohm that Arky State did which gave Nebraska fits. Now, hopefully Nebraska will have made some adjustments so David Blough doesn't throw another party.
  24. It's going to be really interesting to see what shakes out with CJ. If he can come back for a few games and put out some good tape plus is Diaco is kept, I think it's reasonable he stays. If he puts out some good tape and Diaco is let go, I think he's gone.
