Special teams can be special. I don’t think our staff puts much emphasis to it. I’m a Chiefs fan. If Mecole Hardman doesn’t make that 40-45 yard kick return down 24-0 to the Houston Texans during the playoffs and the Chiefs Super Bowl winning season, a comeback probably never happens. Games can be won with ST. It’s a massive swing. The field position game is one area you have to win and I don’t think HCSF respects how important it truly is. Maybe it’s an after thought? Either way, the results we are getting from years past up till now is indicative of a poorly coached team. This is on SF and his staff. Add the fact that we were busted by the NCAA for having a ST consultant? That’s just Nickelodeon green slime being dumped on our heads right there.

Hey if the shoe fits why wait? No sense in dragging things out if either A) Frost doesn’t want to continue which is what a lot of media and fans seem to think since we’re now all body language experts or B) Trev has someone else on his short list that he wants now and can guarantee the opening with Chinander as interim AD. Worst case scenario, Chins turns the season around unexpectedly and it turns into a 2003/Bo Pelini situation again.

I’m sure Trev has a short list but Matt Entz would be worth a look. Builds defense to stop no huddle up tempo. Run the ball guy with power formations i.e. two tight end sets. Don’t know if he recruited Trey Lance but sure coached him up to a 1st round draft pick. 23-3 at NDSU right now. We won’t be getting a “home run” hire again. It’s gonna be an up and comer guy if Frost doesn’t pan out.

I’d bench him permanently and tell him his days as a quarterback at Nebraska are over and to immediately start taking reps at running back.

Why can’t we ditch the whole spread offense philosophy? We tried to run power in the B12 in 2008 if you guys remember and we went to more of a spread offense. Why can’t we be multiple and just go back to a basic power run play action pass team? Drop the no huddle crap use it when it’s absolutely necessary. Never underestimate the power of a huddle. I think he needs to do the hard part which Solich figured out in 2003 and that is he needs to revamp his entire offense and replace his entire weak offensive staff. Frost is way in over his head. Our defense is built for B1G offenses why can’t offense be built for B1G defense as well? We’re never going to consistently recruit 5 star receivers. We’re never going to be able to do what Ohio State is doing. Face it we need to be doing what Iowa and Wisconsin are doing and that’s producing NFL line talent with solid running backs and a difference maker at tight end/receiver. Beat our craft over and over, simple basic fundamentals, I knew the offense Frost would bring from UCF wouldn’t go over well with our fan base. They expected good old fashioned Husker Power like the glimpse we saw vs OSU last year where I-Formation was working. We didn’t expect this s#!t show.

Buffalo is not even a winnable game anymore. I think we could actually lose to them along with the sellout streak later on. Especially if the same team we saw yesterday plays like that again. Maybe Covid-19 delta variant saves the day and shuts down the season. Fan apathy is here, folks. Perhaps our one way ticket to moving on from SF is the NCAA investigation warrants a termination with cause and negates his contracted buyout. I think this is the road we’re heading for, sadly.

The bright spot to me was the pass rush. I was happy to see that. I think we have some good run support safeties but some are a liability coverage wise (not gonna name names.) some of the receivers we have are promising if they had someone who could get them the ball on a consistent and accurate basis and not miss wide open throws.

Frank had the stones to revamp his entire staff which led to a 10-3 season and his firing. That is neither here nor there however the tables have turned now and Frost may need revamp his entire offensive philosophy and staff to remain HC at NU. Personally, I think he sees the writing on the wall and so do many other higher ups. He’s not changing his stripes for anybody.

The team is starting to mirror its coach and staff. Lazy, arrogant, and full of excuses.

I think it would be better for Frost to make offensive staff changes right now ala Wisconsin and other B1G schools who have fired OL coaches and coordinators after 1-3 games. His assistants have had 4 long years to develop talent and it’s the same as year 1. We are trending downward fellas and fan apathy is starting to settle in. Not good for the program at all.

We know what we’ve got with Martinez. I am so done with the guy. I’d rather see Matt Masker at this point. I don’t see us coming back to win this game unless our running game improves.

We’re not going through this firing talk again. Trev is committed to Frost. It’s about earning and building that trust now. Whether some of you like it or not, Scott Frost is your coach for a while. I’d like to let Frost play out his contract. No more paying coaches not to coach Nebraska anymore — who we kiddin’?Things don’t always workout in life. It happens. If Scott fails, he fails. We move on. Simple as that. Fans have got to support the man, bottom line.

Almost 20 years ago. He does strike me though as the kind of guy that strikes when the iron is hot. If Frost coaches another losing season, yikes. I think Trev long term will prove to be a solid hire. Sort of like we’re trying to have our own Barry Alvarez so to speak. I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing
