  1. I used to never miss watching a Husker game. And before they were televised I listened to every game religiously to the point of emergency driving 30 or 40 miles a few times to get a decent AM radio signal when I lived in Colo. Now, I record all the games and end up watching about 1/2 of them all the way through. Between the mostly miserable seasons we've had for the last couple of decades and the fact that between the endless commercials with interminable official reviews/injury time-outs the games have lost a lot of interest to me. At least if I record them I can fast forward. And not living in the state makes it easier not to hear the outcome before watching the game. I never watch a game live anymore. NFL either. It's just too big of a waste of time. And funny as it sounds, I really miss the days of listening to Lyle Bremser call the 2 1/2 hour long games. Plenty of action, way fewer & shorter commercials and the Huskers were consistently a top 10 team. Ahh, the good old days.

  3. Based on that schedule, what we have seen from this team the last two years and some glaring weaknesses at a few position groups (LB, WR etc) going into 2020 I don't see any way they do better than 6-6. And 3-9 or 4-8 is certainly not out of the question by any means. I think it is going to be a very rough road the next two years for DONU. My biggest question would be does HCSF have enough support to survive 4 losing seasons? Hard to see it but with the buy-out as large as it is it could be enough to keep him here for quite a few more years.
  4. No idea if any of this is true but if JD were to leave we would in even bigger trouble at WR going into next year than we are already in. Our offense is anemic as it stands but losing one of the only weapons we have available it will only get worse.
  5. No, Scott will be around for years to come regardless of what we do next year. And 5-7 is probably optimistic.
  6. I see about 5-7 as the ceiling for next year. The schedule is anything but "nice". I will be surprised if they don't lose the final 5 games and there are at least 2 losses in the first 7. I could see the D being worse than this year and I don't see the offense being any better either. I'm really looking forward to 2022 when Luke will have a chance as the starting QB since I really don't see anyone but Martinez being at the helm for his last 2 years regardless of how he plays.
  7. Iowa - 13 Nebraska - 6 Rush - 112 Pass - 134
  8. Nebraska - 27 Maryland - 35 Rush - 212 Pass - 236
  9. I don't either but that squib kick on the last KO I believe was probably the most effective kick of the day. IMHO they should just go to that deep squib the rest of the season. It is hard for a team to get a return setup when the returning is fielding/fumbling around the ball at the 15-20 yd line and since almost none of our kicks make it to the end zone you are probably not going to give up much.
  10. Thanks. With the way things are going I thought maybe you just put the contest out of its misery for remaining
  11. Wisconsin - 35 Nebraska - 3 Rushing - 46 Passing - 78
  12. I totally agree. Honestly, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they held him out the rest of the year. The kid has proven to be tough as nails but at his size has taken more than enough big hits for a freshman so far this season.
  13. Hey Mavric. Are we not doing the prediction threads anymore? I don't see one for the Wis game in the contest crib.
  14. Better get all we can get before the last 5 games. I could easily seeing us going 0-5 over that stretch. Hoping to get 6 wins and get back to a bowl but another 4-8, 5-7 season is certainly a possible. Glad we don't play OU next year. If we did, I think 3-9 wouldn't be out of the question.
  15. Start Martinez the remaining games. I wouldn't risk Luke getting a serious or career ending injury against Wis or Iowa, both of which I have a feeling will destroy our OL.
  16. NU - 23 PU - 17 Rushing - 174 Passing - 175
  17. I didn't vote in the original pole but would have picked 5-7. Since I thought we would get beat today anyway I'm sticking with 5-7. Think we can get a win against Purdue or Maryland but not both. Hey, I guess it better than last year if they can pull it off.
  18. I learned that although I normally HATE the alt. uniforms, especially some of the disasters NU has come up with in the past, I actually thought the black/white looked pretty sharp. The red lettering was a little hard to read but other than that they looked good IMHO.
  19. I sure as hell wouldn't burn McCaffrey's redshirt for this season the way it is shaping up. He looks to be the future. Other than mop up duty or garbage time if we are getting clobbered again (as I expect in at least a couple of the remaining games) I would sit him. I would also stop running him on every other play or we will end up with another QB going down. He was already dinged up in the short time he played today. And if they keep running WR into the teeth of defense at the rate they are doing it he won't make it through his college career without a suffering at least one major injury. The kid is touch as nails for his size but he can only take so much.
  20. Indiana - 35 Nebraska - 14 Rushing - 101 Passing - 151
  21. But not any more boring than DONU. Points scored in the last 3 games - NU 27 - Iowa 41 Points scored through 7 games - NU 179 - Iowa 175 But on defense, not quite as close. Points allowed through 7 games - NU 193 - Iowa 81 Points allowed B1G games - NU 130 - Iowa 47 So I guess NU is much more exciting to watch since we get to see 2-3 times more scoring. Unfortunately, it is by the opponents.
  22. Iowa is 4-1, played Mich within 7 points and PSU within 5 points. Not exactly what I would call horrible. A whole hell of a lot better than DONU. Purdue & MD are bad but so are we. Still think it will be a struggle getting 2 wins in these last 5 games.
  23. This team is going to have a tough time becoming bowl eligible. I see absolutely no chance against Wis. & Iowa which means they have to find a way to get 2 wins out of Ind., Purdue & Maryland. They are all pretty bad but I don't think we are any better. It will be tough getting 2 wins in those 3 games. Could be a rough ride. This is not going at all like I had hoped it would.
  24. NU - 13 Minn - 28 Rushing - 131 Passing - 165
