  1. I'm not going to advocate returning the TO's power option game (although it is still my favorite system to watch). But from what I understand you can want shorter, squatier, road grader type offensive linemen which seem to be in much great abundance in the 500 mile radius than the prototypical long linemen we are trying to recruit. And one thing that seems to be pretty constant over the past couple of decades is our OL play has been average during the best years at best. For most of this decade it seems to be way below average. We just haven't been able to recruit the type of OL we need to be consistently successful. Just sayin'.
  2. Trouble is, I've seen absolutely nothing from this team to lead me to believe they should be "Tier Two". Other than the first half of the CU game and the second half of of the Ill. game the remaining 8 halves have been anywhere from decidedly mediocre to downright terrible. Of the 5 games so far, struggled against a bottom feeder Sun Belt team, collapsed in the second half against an average Pac 12 team with a first year coach, win still in doubt until late 3rd qtr. against a bottom feeding MAC team, OT win against one of the worst B1G teams & then there was last Saturday. "Tier Three" at best IMHO. Nothing is impossible but things will have to do a 180 deg. in Lincoln to have any chance of winning the West.
  3. Nope. Never! I have it on good authority that ALL teams that are in the running for NC concentrate solely on football 24/7/365 from the day they set foot on campus until the day they leave. They don't partake anything, including blowing a spliff, drinking any alcohol, engaging in romance of any kind including thinking about it. No life outside of football, period. Any of these things will destroy their laser focusing you know. Just look at Wan'dal. He gets a paraphernalia ticket before the season and look at what a bust he is turning out to be. Probably should just cut him loose now.
  4. Sorry, I forgot the smiley after the first sentence.
  5. Let's hope they start with football and not golf or swimming. I'm glad to hear they appear to be swinging for the fences on the upgrade if it is going to be that much money. The previous upgrade was not very forward thinking IMHO. Now here we are just 13 years later and that facility is badly outdated and not able to be upgraded. Better to spend more money up front and have a facility that will have a longer life and can be upgraded when the time comes.
  6. I won't say it is an automatic loss but we are going to have see a different team than we've seen in the first four games. Coming out in the first half sleep walking like last night will lead to a loss. 4 fumbles lost and 11-119 yrds in penalties isn't going to cut it. OL needs to step up and play respectably at a min., AM needs to take care of the ball and make smart decisions. Defense will have to have their best game of the year. Kicking games at least needs to ascend to being mediocre. And hopefully, Mo & JD will be able to bounce back from the utter beating they both endured last night. Possible, but I'm not putting any money on it.
  7. After seeing his offer list, 'Bama, Clemson, OSU, Mich etc. etc., it is beyond belief some of the recruiting services only have him as a 3*. Guess they know better than Saban, Swinney & the rest of the elite coaches that offered him.
  8. What concerns me is the 2nd half will now become the bible for stopping Frost's offense and I'm sure every DC will study it in depth. If the staff can't figure out what they are doing and a way to counter it this going to be a very long season.
  9. NU needs to find a way to win this game. If they don't, they will be going into the B1G season 1-2 and needing to go 5-4 in conf. play to make it to a bowl. At this point, I can't see a way this team can do that from what we have seen in the first two games. If they are 2-1, I think 4-5 in conf. play is doable, not easy or a given but doable.
  10. I learned my that while I was a little uneasy about my 7-5 season pick after last weeks showing, I am now downright convinced I was being too optimistic in what I thought was a very conservative prognostication. At this point, if we can make it to 6-6 and a bowl game bid I'll be giddy considering the performances of the last two weeks.
  11. When I was formulating my season record guess I had 3 games I felt were likely losses, 2 games that were very likely wins and 2 losses lumped into the remaining basket of teams. CU was one of the games I felt might be a loss but felt pretty good that NU would find a way to win in Boulder against a first year coach. After last weekend, I'm not as confident. This game is pretty much a toss-up in my mind but with the CU having the home field maybe a bit in their favor. CU's offense looked pretty potent last week while NU's defense looked pretty stingy. On the other had CU's defense pretty much sucked as did NU's offense. Both teams were playing non P5 teams that were not very good the previous year. And both teams are coming off very bad years themselves. I won't be surprised whichever team wins. I guess the only thing that will surprise me is a blowout, one way or the other.
  12. NU - 28 CU - 35 Rushing - 88 Passing - 187
  13. Tough to make any headway when the OL gets zero push and you are getting hit before the LOS on almost every play. He looked good when he did have a hole open up until he fumbled away And they only used him up the middle while it seem Washington's runs were designed more to the outside or he was able to bounce them outside. If the line can't improve drastically in the coming weeks and they continue to run Mills up the middle it is going to be a very long year for him. What scares me is, if a bottom dwelling Sun Belt team can handle our OL like they did, what is going to happen when we start playing B1G teams? Could get really ugly.
  14. I was worried I way under estimated this team with my 7-5 preseason pick after seeing all the preseason hype. Now I'm wondering if I might have been overly optimistic
  15. I just hope the game isn't delayed as it would probably get bumped for the 2:00pm game by ESPN.
  16. South Alabama Jaguars - 27 University of Nebraska Cornhuskers - 45 Rushing - 188 yards Passing - 235 yards
  17. Ahh, the legendary all-time best thread ever. It will never be matched. Best free entertainment in the history of this forum.
  18. Hard for me to believe them going to this extent over weed.
  19. All I've heard is a lot of speculation but it does seem eminent, especially with DiNardo bringing up. My money would be sometime during the run up to the OSU game.
  20. https://twitter.com/mitchsherman/status/1162401464259510272https://twitter.com/mitchsherman/status/116240146425951027 Robinson held out again today. After missing most of the spring and now appears to be dinged up again I'm wondering how he will be able to hold up once the real action starts. Curious if it is the hamstring again. And while the 2 deep receivers had me much more confident in that group than before the beginning of camp with all the injuries I'm starting to get a little nervous.
