  1. Interesting Tid Bit on sports nightly... Seems the UND fanbase will be showing up for the game. They (UND fans) have purchased the most visitor tickets of all our home games this year.
  2. I can dig this... might have to make the 6 hr trip north and stay a couple days.
  3. @tmfr15 Honestly, in reading your post, what I get from it is your anti frost rant in a passive manner. I don't see doom and gloom. I see opportunity especially with NIL and new transfer policies. Also, 2 former players that are focused on reviving the ship. I also believe the bumps and bruises along the way begin to pay dividends this year which over the next 5 years magnifies. This paragraph was nothing but "I hate Scott Frost" and I don't need to open that flood gate. Still, the recruiting.. the NIL and open transfer market will thankfully allow us to recruit (and recruit successfully mind you) nationally. I don't buy into your small pie portion at all. As for the rest of your post.. Total "the sky is falling" garbage. It's incredibly easy to read into a poster's sentiment and yours is nothing but negative, loathsome, woe are we thoughts. I personally believe the change in player types, the depth, the focus, the desire to restore the program is higher than it's ever been and 5 years from now the B1G will finally be rewarded for their invitation to the conference. The best things in life truly are worth waiting for and patience builds character. That character begins to reveal itself this year and when the chips fall in future years the Huskers will again be respected and yes, with SF and Trev in the same positions they are now.
  4. Wear it around while you and the wife go out. Be sure to have your drinking glasses on because you'll likely getting loads of free drinks
  5. Chin's defenses have been very good at times but also, very bad at times too. At least in year 1 & 2. That said, it can easily be blamed on lack of depth and the defense just getting worn down as the seasons progressed. (Lack of depth "can" be blamed on Riley and Riley alone btw) Last year Chin's showed how a team with better depth can perform (Fewer break downs, improved ypc given up, better scoring defense, etc..). I do think Frost has allowed Chin's to both run with his scheme unimpeded while also emphasizing the importance of S&C. As I've said many times, I'm a novice fan, played HS ball and watched a lot of football. The best things in life "are" worth waiting for and I begin the wait starts to payoff this season. Time for the Huskers to begin the task of Re-Branding their image and I believe it started this off season.
  6. Pencil Neck Perelman successfully destroyed Nebraska Athletics
  7. Sadly, had Bo not been fired and replaced with Riley I think the Huskers would have been in the B1G championship game. I think the administration assumed that too and was partially the reason for the rushed hire of Riley. The administration didn't really care who replaced Bo as long as Bo was removed. The schedule that year was one Bo & Staff would have owned. (Go Back and look at it.) Riley came in, asked Tommy to learn a new offense, play a type of game he wasn't recruited to play and screwed up a relatively loaded defense. Had Bo not been fired, Tommy and company would have had a 10 win or higher season. Can one justify the firing of Bo, yes of course but.. you can't justify it by his winning percentage.
  8. Has the bus tour visit aired yet? If so, anyone have a link?
  9. Someone is a Debbie Downer!! That or woke up on the wrong side this morning
  10. Because he was so convinced by everyone in his circle that he absolutely deserved a schollie... when Nebraska didn't offer it he did what so many young kids still in HS do, they rebel and say screw you, I'll show you!!!
  11. I know I'll be laughed at and shunned here for what I'm about to say but I'll say it anyway. This game scares me... it's a no win situation for us. I also feel it's a trap game. If we win nobody cares because well... we should win. If we lose, it's front page news and total chaos. Truth is, the scary part isn't the game itself but rather the game prep. If we win the Northwestern game, do the players lose focus and come in over confident and as a result of over confidence have a bad week of prep? On the other hand, if we lose the Northwestern game (I shutter at the thought) that let down, coupled with the long flight home and emotional recovery, will that result in a bad week of prep? In short, my concern is game preparation. Long flight home after what will be a highly physical game, short week as well, classes starting and every other possible distraction.. couple all that together and I can see a scary scenario. (Flashes of SD Jackrabbits and TM struggling.) I'll be happy with a last second field goal for a win here. Just sayin... Trap Game!! They did after all, hold NDSU to 16 points last year losing by only 6.. Huskers had better not be looking past this game as there is a whole lot of pride up north.
  12. why not set it up for vendor tailgating.. Let say 6-10 vendors set up assigned area's with one being a beer garden and then put out canopy tents for shading. Lastly, allow 6-10 random tailgate spots for the public to bring in their grills/cookers to add to the atmosphere. In the Nov games, put up a several Standing LP heaters to warm the tailgater's. The vendor spots are sold yearly while the public (call them grilling spots) ones are free but only available once per year per family. Draw the public spots randomly and send the spot schedules out accordingly. Vendor and Public spots are setup Friday night to eliminate on campus traffic issues.

@The Dude - who said it should infuriate you? Personally it makes me want to run through a wall for the coach. My post was in assumption that others feel the same.

@LoebarthI agree with @The Dude your saying of "making my blood boil" is universally thought of as being infuriated.  Also, I don't know how long it has been since you have played football, but seeing an online video of football practice and you getting so worked up that you would "run through a wall for the coach" is a bit odd.

  14. This is the most Toxic fall camp media I've EVER seen. It's nauseating. I'm so disgusted with the media that I ended my sub to the OWH and have decided to refuse to listen to any local journalist (hater). If s#!tel is on 1620 I turn the station. This s#!t show of journalism is absolutely sickening.

@Loebarth I get the frustration.  But sports journalists have always been "commentators" on top of being "reporters".  People can get stats and roster news from Huskers.com.  But opinions (good or bad) are what drives the media.  We either love their opinions, or love to hate them.  Either way, they are successful.

If coaches don't give them something to write about, they will have to find something to fill their columns.  Not writing about the Husker football team  won't cut it in Omaha/Lincoln.  Especially during the season.

    4. Enhance

      Enhance

The truth of the matter is that journalists and media organizations know what people like and listen to, and now more than ever, they're basing their content strategies off of clicks, pageviews and subscription purchases. Their strategy may have lost you Loebarth while gaining them 10 new subs.

That's also why people like Stephen A. Smith are some of the highest paid sports personalities in the business. He drives clicks and views and makes them money. It's a vicious circle my dudes.

  15. Seriously?? Every prominent broadcaster outside of Louisiana will praise the 2019 LSU championship but also concede the 1995 Huskers were the better of the two. A high school paper laid it out well here and in detail, here is an even better breakdown of the numbers. Lastly, considering the opponents in the championship games. I think a good question to determine the discussions outcome is, which team (LSU or NE) faced a better national championship opponent. (I'd argue 1995 Florida was better than 2019 Clemson but I think that discussion is even closer than current topic's question.)
  16. My prediction is much less complicated than everyone else's. Considering my limited knowledge of the game and especially coaching I'll simply say, we win enough for Frost to remain but also, gain security and extended contract. That's my prediction on the season. A side note, I think we win the Northwestern game on a lucky fluke as a sign that fate is turning in our favor
  17. Prominent coaches (like Urban Meyer) were/are outwardly in favor of the fair catch (25 yard line) on kick offs and some (Nick Saben) want the punt return fair catch to become more prominent by advancing the ball by 10 yards at point of catch as a safety issue for players. The game is changing. Player safety, concussion protocols/head injury concerns are all more prominent today. We've all seen some serious injuries to punt returners. They've curtailed most of the violence but injury still exists.
  18. By far the BEST post of the day!!! (without paying the Mouse) LMAO!! Love the sentiment Joe!!!
  19. I won't be at all surprised if NBC pays the $75 million. In fact, I'd be more surprised if they didn't and TBH, at the current B1G and SEC rates broken down per school, I think that is a fair request. If NBC decides it's too much so be it, they can then pay more if they want to get into conference contracts to broadcast college football. Truth is, all this hoopla is doing is adding to the destruction of the real value of the dollar not to mention hurting college sports as a whole. Ugh... would love to go back to the days of split titles and off season discussions of who would have beaten whom... those were the good times. However, I digress... times have changed and the change is only beginning. Better to sit back and enjoy the ride, yes?
  20. One awesome twitter handle, 2 boring handles but 3 talented players. Little surprised with the QN but fine with it at the same time. Nelson is a no brainer and big V could be huge this year. Ugh... gotta say, I'm getting excited!!!
  21. Here's me being a positive fan. No hard feelings here but I hope your diet is filled with crow come december
  22. I was talking to a certain Omaha Metro coach this weekend and he stated he hoped Nebraska could begin getting old. I didn't understand his statement and asked him to clarify. He pointed out in today's NIL, he thinks successful programs will target 3 star and project lineman (both sides of scrimmage) to avoid transferring and lower the NIL required costs. Thoughts? Never heard "getting old" on the lines before.

You see it at the HS level too...9th and even 10th graders almost never go up to varsity to play the line, they have to be freaks.

    3. BigRedBuster

      BigRedBuster

Why wouldn't you target 4-5 star players and hope that you get old on the line?

    4. Loebarth

      Loebarth

I think the coach was in the opinion that today's 4 & 5 star players believe they shouldn't have to wait and therefore if they aren't starting they'll transfer out. Could be wrong but I think he just felt it best to get old on the lines, recruit 3 star and project players. Kind of makes sense if the university is wanting to lower it's NIL costs I guess.

  23. Dude, we know you're not a positive minded fan. We get that, truly we do. Still, in lue of the fact that we've not witnessed even a single real game live snap and only have film to go off of your quoted statement about the backs leads me to believe that you are actually hoping they fail. Ugh... more debbie's on here then joan's of late. (referring to debbie downers vs joan of arch, one always doom and gloom, the other always filled with courage and fight)
  24. Adrian, class act thru and thru!! Much Respect to you my man!!! You're class will carry you to success in life!!!
