I just don't get Frost's obsession with pushing a screen/swing-pass game that just isn't working. Way too often the play goes nowhere or we lose yards and it's not like the rest are big gainers. The dumbest is throwing it horizontally to Stoll. He is a standard TE, who is he going to make miss so the play goes someplace?

Wouldn't have said it last year but it looks like we need a true OC. Frost's playcalling sucked this year and I wouldn't trust Walters to do any better. Chin and DeWitt aren't getting the job done on D or ST's either. This staff needs major upgrades.

Playing some bad offenses gave the impression that this D has improved, it hasn't.

He has managed to regress as a qb. Time to start the Luke era IMO.

Iowa hasn't scored very much on any P5 team other than putting up 30 on a horrid Rutgers squad and their rushing attack has been underwhelming. If they knock us around against this year I will be very disappointed. The O has the much tougher duty going against one of the best scoring defenses in the nation. Geez I hope Wandale can go, could make the difference in the game. Think we may have won last year if JD wasn't out. Hate that we used-up Rahmir's four games by twice throwing him in there for one freaking rep.

We could use Rahmir Friday. Sucks that we used-up two of his games coming in for one freaking rep. Hopefully Wandale is ready to go.

Pathetic that we keep returning when we don't have to when it so rarely works.

Those ratings aren't any lower than guys at Iowa, Minn, or Wiscy.

He would need to ramp-up his recruiting some but I'd be fine if he got a third stint here. He couldn't keep it in his pants but he developed the crap out of our secondary.

I like that we really went for the 1st down here.. At times this season we just ran something safe and prayed we got lucky.

Speaking of McCaffrey he has two games left to play in. With his athleticism I'd like to see us find ways to use him.

Between that issue and the blocking one half our screens do nothing. Was glad to see less of them in the Wiscy game.

The assumption about Muschamp is of course that he'd be canned. Nobody here thinks he comes here if South Carolina opts to give him more time.

I have little faith in our D but Iowa's O is no better than last year when we hung in there til the end in Iowa City. Question is whether our O puts it all together like they seemed so close to doing against Wiscy. If that happens we have a puncher's chance in Lincoln.

I think Muschamp would be a good pick, he is a top-notch DC and he's probably done as a HC, which means there's potential for him to stay a long time. If MSU cans Dantonio I'd be OK with picking him up. At his age he wouldn't be a long-term guy but I think we'd get a good four years out of him. Have Chin as OLB/co-DC and groom him properly. With some years working with a top-notch DC that knows the BIG I think Chin would be a credible DC himself.

The O-line has had their share of struggles both years but they do improve significantly over the course of the season. To me that is a sign of a good coaching. I think next year with everyone back and Benhart hopefully ready to move Farniok to guard we transition from bad lines that becomes OK to OK line that becomes good. In 2021 the massive '19 class will be RS-sophs and ready to really contribute.

With how great he was running and Wandale being out we should have ridden Mills harder, would've had another score or two. . O is on the cusp. The line has come a long ways. When AM and the playcalling are on the O rolls. Need Wandale back. Would like to see Rahmir get involved, sucks we wasted two games on him getting one rep, otherwise I think he plays against Wiscy. We're good at getting a drive going, now we need to get good at finishing them, do that and Iowa becomes a winnable game.

If Chryst sticks to what they were gouging us with not sure we even get that. He and Frost both repeatedly went away from what was working.

The thing with Wiscy is even today they owe a lot of their success to Alvarez, he has his fingerprints all over that program. Hell when Biliema and Anderson left he coached the bowls. He gives that program continuity and helps make the coaches look good. That said, ya it definitely makes a difference where you're coaching. Some places are hands-down tougher to win at than others, plus there is the matter of being a good fit.

If Benhart is ready to roll I think Farniok becomes our best guard. Jurgens should be bigger and way more ready. I think next year we jump from a bad line that develops into an average one as the season progresses to an average one that develops into a good one.

Oregon demoted Pellum back to LB-coach after two unimpressive seasons at DC. Chin copied this scheme mainly because his experience was rather limited and this was the D he knew enough to run. Granted Pellum's scheme was similar to Aliotti's and that guy did OK with it but Chin learned primarily from the DC that screwed the pooch. I think Chin would be fine if he had learned more under better defensive coaches. But instead of being groomed properly he became a DC after just two years as a FBS position-coach on a meh defense.

If we do have guys redshirting that are better than the guys playing then they should be out there helping us win games and getting valuable experience. There is nothing "short-term" about that. This program has lost all momentum, may not even make a much-needed bowl, and recruiting has stagnated. That hurts us long-term.

Riley did need to go, and Frost needed to acknowledge that we can do better than a G5 staff with his best bud as DC. None are innocent here.

Last year I wouldn't have said Frost needs a true OC, now I don't know. Playcalling has been meh this season. If he is going to keep-up being de-facto OC he needs better guys that can be trusted left to their own devices running the D and ST's.
