Hmm... Sagarin, FPI, and SP+ have Nebraska at 60, 59, and 50, respectively, and Oregon State at 64, 63, and 59, respectively. I think it would be more accurate to say that both teams are in a Riley-esque place, and trying to escape.
You're not supposed to be hearing the DL's names being called much! That's not how it works in most 3-4 schemes! Posts like this are driving me batty, because there's a whole lot of misplaced blame here.
I mean hell, simple counting should tell you that you're not going to hear the DL's names called as much, since there's only three of them on the field. But you also need to realize that they have very different responsibilities in a 3-4 than in a 4-3. Mostly, they're there to chew up OL blocks and take up space, while the linebackers are the guys responsible for pass rush and making plays. And it's our linebackers that are letting us down, there.

Here's what Purdue's coach had to say about our D after the game:
TL;DR: Our linebackers are the problem, and it's not even close. And it's even scarier when you look at how our LB recruiting has went lately...
I think a lot of people are too quick to call someone a bust. Like we all know that this year's O-line sucks, but they should all be back next year, and I don't think it's hopeless for these players. Of course, if you bring in a grad transfer or something and they're not contributing a whole lot, you can probably call them a bust pretty quickly. But at least you're not stuck having them on scholarship for 4-5 years.
TBH I'd still give that award to Ozigbo.
Our scoring O is ranked below our scoring D. If our offense actually put up points to match their yardage numbers, we'd be alright. But... they're not. At all.
Yeah, I think Moos knew that this was more than just an Xs and Os on the field problem, and in particular he realized how undisciplined the team was. Here's a quote from Frost from early last year:
Moos is a guy who has been an AD at four schools going back almost 30 years, with close to another decade as an assistant AD. He's seen some stuff. If he can say something's the worst he's seen, it's probably pretty bad.
^ This. A lot of what people are blaming the D-line for is really more on the linebackers in this scheme. Being a D-lineman in a typical 3-4 is kind of an unglamorous job - you're mostly there to take up space and plug holes, while the OLBs are the attack dogs that are supposed to be generating most of the pass rush. That's why I've been harping on our OLB recruiting so much.
@sho So far, Apple has hardly anything in the way of content. From what I've seen, I probably wouldn't bother even though it's only $5/month. Might as well just stick the the free services like Pluto, Crackle, IMDB TV, Xumo, Tubi, and The Roku Channel. Though they're supposed to be producing a series based on Isaac Asimov's Foundation, which I'd be interested in seeing.
