How Many National Championship Games Has NU Lost?

'65 and '81 count in my opinion, since I think we probably win the title if we win those games. So, '65, '81, '83, '93, '01. That's five. Call us 5-5 in de facto national title games, which isn't bad. We really should have won that Clemson game. They started calling penalties on Dave Rimington just as we took control of the game. They didn't call penalties on Dave Rimington the whole year. -

They always did in the past. Do they not anymore? I still have mine from 1986, 1987 (the first 25 bowl game programs!), 1990, 1991, 1994, 1995 and 1996 somewhere. I used to make my own for some of the in between years. These days I make a desktop wallpaper every year, which usually lasts about half the season. At whatever point a significant, backbreaking loss occurs, I generally change it.

Found my program from the 1983 spring game, my first one. Has it really been 30 years?

Nice job on the court mockups. I like the one with the red frame myself. Who would be the hockey tenant, if there was one? The Stars? I'd like to see a football one with red end zones and another one with the "HUSKERS" white outlined in red, like it was for many years.

Nebraska should use the Tiger Woods slogan for themselves. If they wanna show the world they are back, and they belong in the Big 10, then winning *will* take care of everything.

To follow the tangent that seems to have developed here - "Old Nebraska". For me, "Old Nebraska" more than anything else means that we were never going to beat ourselves. Smart, disciplined, well-coached, well-prepared. They blocked, they tackled, they did not fumble, they did not miss tackles, they did not drop passes, drop interceptions, blow assignments, commit multiple penalties on a drive, and they did not waste defensive timeouts. Basically, they removed all of the intangibles and left the game completely up to a simple battle of talent vs talent. If Nebraska lost a game, it was because the other team had more talent on the field, and for no other reason, certainly no self-inflicted reason.

I'll quit watching college football if Alabama wins again. I'm still waiting for the day with baited breath that the entire SEC gets sanctioned to the teeth.
