I've only tried it cold, sliced right out of the can on a sandwich and I wasn't a fan.  At the time, I didn't know people fried it.  I would be willing to try it that way just to see how much it's improved.

However, I'm with @Enhance , I eat as little processed food (to this extent) as I can.  So, I doubt if I'd ever eat very much of it.

FYI....from what I've tried, braunschweiger is MUCH better.  

If we had grilled cheese and tomato soup as a kid, my dad would fry up some SPAM to put on our sandwiches. I used to keep a few tins in my dorm in college for a quick drunks snack

In college, we used to slice it up and pan fry it before adding to Mac and cheese. My Japanese/Hawaiian buddies swear by spam musabi. Played a round of golf with Creighton PA student who grew up in Hawaii, he said the best Hawaiian spot in the metro is this place in Bellevue. Still have yet to try it
