  1. Gaining leverage against big strong boys is going to be a challenge for him. It can be taught to an extent, but certain guys are much better at knee bending and creating a good base than others. Newell almost appears a bit stiff and plays very upright. That is what concerns me. Even at the D1 level though, some guys can dominate based off strength and athleticism alone (see Vernon Gholston). Newell is a freak.
  2. Going to be a great game for rbs. Gurley is a big bad man. Top 5 when healthy easy.
  3. Much more impressed by his senior film. The competition was always a concern, but I'm seeing great initial burst and power that I didn't see before. Still have some concerns with Newell, but he certainly is very intriguing.
  4. Enjoying the hell out of your posts. I played football for 11 years and coached for 7. People throwing around these 40 times like there a dime a dozen isn't accurate. The only person I think I have heard of with a super low 40 time is Deon Sanders at the combine....I think. Bo Jackson still holds the record. 4.18 40 they actually claimed he did a 4.12, and then did a 4.18 the next week. 40s weren't electronically timed at the NFL combine or pretty much anywhere else until 1999 though, so anything timed before that is up for debate. since 1999, there have only been 18 official 40 times at the combine of 4.30 or under. one of which was by our very own fabian washington at 4.29. the record is 4.24 held by chris johnson in 2008 and rondel melendez in 1999. to echo what a few people said earlier, the 40 is an extremely overrated statistic that when not electronically timed is extremely subjective. it also greatly favors people who have been trained to run it. one of those 18 i mentioned earlier is marquise goodwin from texas with a 4.27, who represented team USA for track and field in the olympics. he has obviously been taught the correct technique. does anyone really think kids in high school are running a time as good as his? edit: deion sanders allegedly ran a 4.27 in 1989. i'm sure that one is fairly close to right, but 4.1anything is laughable at best. Good points. I'm sure Bo didn't run sub 4.2, but if anyone could have done it, it would've been him, Deion, or Darrell Green.
  5. Kenny Bell and Q were two big finds as well. Also, while not a great player, Ciante Evans was a low profile guy, who has been very important to our defense the past two years.
  6. Matthew Romo. Detroit Cowboys.

Should be an interesting Pooper Bowl.

  7. It's funny how UT keeps firing up their fanbase with talks of Saban, Harbaugh, and Carroll, when they have no chance for any of them. Such arrogance.

I think what he's saying is he wants to use all the leftover points that they score against their never-ending weak schedule to help them beat the few decent teams that they play that they can't beat otherwise.

  11. It's Rodger's, Rozier's, and Crouch's favorite day of the year! Hopefully EC don't have a polo on again.

  12. Already been commented on, but I find his running style EXTREMELY similar to Taylor. His arm and footwork are much better though. Would really like to get this guy.
  13. The great Tom Brady once said, "F#*^ this snow" and threw for 345 yds and 5 td... in the first half. Let's see how Peyton fares today.

Everyone knows you throw in the snow. Receivers have a big advantage over DBs with snow on the ground

  14. I kinda hope Auburn gets in the NC. FSU would beat them by 50. They have a great offense, and unlike Missouri, they play D.

We don't know for sure if they play great defense. Their schedule wasn't all that difficult.

  15. Whoever drafts this Bortles character is gonna have a bad time. Dude's got himself quite the lady friend though.

  16. No thank you. I'll take my chances with what we got.
  17. Randy Gregory's NFL draft stock is going through the roof. Right now projected 5th best DE in his class, up from about 40 or so at midseason. Good for us, he's nowhere near ready and is just showing glimpses of his potential. We a potential once ina generation type talent on our hands.

Because NFL Draft stock is based a lot on potential, especially among under players.

He's staying, the only reason this will he stay/will he go has come up was because of the Pelini drama. If Pelini left it was more than likely RG would have left.

By "nowhere near ready", I meant that he is essentially getting by entirely on his freakish ability right now. With his technique as is, he would get wrecked in the league. He's ranked so high because his natural ability is so ridiculous.

Yes he does. Glad he left Seattle though. Dan Quinn is where it's at.

  19. Barring injury we are going to be insanely deep on the interior dline. *Repeatedly Knocking on Wood*
  20. Danny Kanell LAYING DOWN THE LAW! Putting Finebaum in his place. All he had in response to Kanell saying the SEC isn't that great was, "Your unamerican" lol..

  21. The blatant SEC bias from ESPN, while nothing new, is making me sick. They're painting them as a "team of destiny" that would be criminally wronged if they don't get to play for the crystal. I want to punch my TV.

    1. husker07

      husker07

The argument that the best teams should play, carries no weight to me. You could pick 50 teams from the past that were probably the best teams who didn't get to play in the NC, 99 NU included.

  22. You'd think the Chiefs would make it a priority to take away the big play seeing as that was NE's m.o. last week. But no. This is why you can't have nice things KC.
