I think they dumbed down the defense in order to get the other issues (dumb penalties, missed tackles, blown coverage's) resolved. Once those other issues are resolved we might see that defense again. Also, no need to blitz when the opponents are running the ball down our throats.

You won't win games with stat lines like these for your defense:

I'd be happy with a close game with no turnovers, no stupid penalties that kill drives or keep their offense on the field, no blown coverages, missed tackles, missed blocks. I know, dreaming.

With the depth chart changes, any possibility we make it close?

Give Frost a bunch of 3 star players that want to put in the work and believe in the system and the wins will start coming and with those wins, 4 and 5 star players later on.

He outplayed Blough and that is no small feat. Oz got a lot of credit and deservedly so but it was Martinez who was the real game changer. He still has a lot to learn, but once he cleans up some of those misreads and bad throws, watch out!

Penalties is just one of the reasons for the loss, lots of other things to clean up also.

We will lose a lot of games this year, but the team will play better by the end of the year. Martinez is eleet and he will win a lot of games by the time he leaves here. Oz ruled today, I take back any negative comments made toward him being slow. We only had one turnover. We are still making far too many stupid mistakes. I think we see a bunch of players benched after what Frost said. Frost is going to right this ship, it is just going to take a lot longer than many of us koolaid drinkers thought.

If they cleaned up all of the dumb mistakes; turnovers, missed tackles, blown coverages, missed blocks, I'd expect a team with superior talent to win the game (which is Nebraska). I would love to see progress in all of those areas and if there is progress, I would expect us to win (unless Purdue played a perfect game).

It is embarrassing is all, seeing Oz get run down from behind by a linebacker who was clearly beat on the play from behind. If you want to win games, you have to utilize your players better. Put Washington in there, run him up the middle and outside, keep the defense guessing. If it had been a faster back on the play he would have outran the linebacker, Oz simply doesn't put any fear into any defense running outside.
