For the 2nd day in a row, OSU (Oregon St.) has landed another DE commit in :star :star :star Scott Crichton.

Interesting how suddenly DE's are committing shortly after the news of Owa adding OSU back into his Top 3 list?

Could it be that some of the speculation regarding his recent addition of the Beavers having merit? Why else would they begin pulling in DEs so soon after?

Coincidence? Because it's a week before signing day and it's time for the recruits they've been in on to make their final decision. UCLA just landed the #4 DT in the nation, but I don't think we should try to see Owa in those tea leaves either.

Personally, I feel the sudden OSU addition was in reaction to the UO scandal that struck the other night. If UO wasn't in any off-the-field fiasco at the moment, Owa would still have them listed in his Top 3 this week. That's just my opinion though.

On the other hand, here is the OSU breakdown at DE.

Current OSU DE roster for 2011:

Tom Black - RS Fr.

Kevin Frahm - Jr.

Taylor Henry - So.

Devon Kell - RS Fr.

Matt LaGrone - Sr.

Gabe Miller - Sr.

Mana Rosa - RS Fr.

Andrew Seumalo - So.

Current OSU 2010 DE commits:

Scott Crichton

Dominic Glover (JUCO)

Just said on 1620 that Owa will announce at 11:30am Pacific time on Signing Day.

--edit--

This was from John Tallman of Rivals, he called Owa to verify exactly when Owa would make his choice. Also says NU has the best shot to get Owa, 2nd best shot to get Carnes, and he thinks NU has a great shot to get all 3.

John Talman from Red Sea Scrolls just said that of the Carnes, Owa, and Cooper, he puts them as

1. Owa

2. Carnes

3. Cooper

as likelihood of signing.

Imo, I would have it be 1. Carnes 2. Owa 3. Cooper.

Atleast Carnes didn't say that during his official to NU all he could think about was another school.

This looks like the same old tired story. Like it or not, Owa is savoring the attention to some degree. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but let's not continue to paint it like he doesn't want any attention/recognition... because he is announcing at his high school on signing day as opposed to just telling the press over the phones before then and getting it over with.

Nebraska came close, but in the end location (whether it be close-to-home or the big warm beach city) and manipulative recruiting almost always beat out great football tradition and a more honest, no-nonsense recruiting approach. Nebraska is the great, handsome, hard-working guy who just isn't ever quite exotic, charming, mysterious or clever enough to nab the ridiculously hot girl.

Good luck to Owa at UCLA or Oregon St. I do think he'll have some regret down the road, because Nebraska seems poised to become a special football program in the very near future, while UCLA is stuck at average and Oregon St. will continue to play third fiddle to USC and Oregon more years than not.

Well said.

Time to put Owa and this thread to rest and move on.

...didn't see this posted when people were trying to tie Glover together w/ Owa. Glover's from CA. Don't think he'd have any ties to Owa.

As for the 10-20 posts on facebook adds - don't forget that he has to approve his friends. (i'm not one of them) I know we all talk about how Owa is "different" than the other drama hungry recruits...but he still likes his ego fed like the rest of us. He's starting to get caught up in it a little bit. There has probably been no less than 250 posts stating "he doesn't want to play the hat game" Most of them were around the Army All-American game. The reality of it might have been, he just didn't want to announce at the game along w/ 15 other people and get lost in the announcements. Now we've got him announcing on ESPN or wherever...and you guessed it - "playing the hat game".

We've already annointed him almighty so it's ok now...but a lot of what we have based our "solid head on his shoulders" and "humble" opininions on have been the fact that he didn't want to play the hat game at the Army All-American game because he respected the coaches recruiting him too much. I personally am backing off that opinion a little bit.

Crusify me for stating the obvious...but he hasn't done anything to this point to lead me to believe he doesn't like the limelight, and doesn't enjoy the drama of it all. He's not Bryce Brown, (hopefully - Owa hasn't signed yet)...but he's certianly not humbly commiting to a school either.

Great post kchusker_chris. I agree with all of what you said. Owa has handled all of this with class . . . but doing the hat thing at his high school does tarnish that a bit. Just call the coaches and let them know . . . no need to make a scene.

I see what you are saying. Remember Owa ALLEGEDLY told another recruit that.

I think Owa came on his visit knowing his mom wasnt going to let him go to NU. So he was basically not really giving NU a fair chance at the time.

I still think that he only added OSU back onto the list because they are the only other Oregon school. I think he has his choices as Distance, Academics/Campus life, and Athletics. Athletics is Nebraska, Academics being UCLA, and Distance was Oregon but he replaced them with OSU. In the end I think it will come down to what he prioritizes as the most important and because of that I think we stand a very good chance.... VERY GOOD hint hint.

During his visit to NU Owa told a rivals recruiter that all he could think about was UCLA and slick rick. However, that changed after Nebraska's performance against Texas and against Arizona.
