huskerguy
Watson I haven't called for your job or really complained to much, but PLEASE show some creativity to this vanilla offense! Say what you want about Billy Callahan he designed some good trick plays and typically knew when to use them. I'm not saying we need some gimmicky game plan for the whole game, but hopefully Watson can dial up some of those trick plays that were huge for us the last couple of years... A few that come to mind... -Texas 2006 Lucky throwing to Swift TD - Mizzou 2006- Purify throwing to Nunn TD - Kansas 2008- Lucky to McNeil TD etc... I really hope Watson opens things up in this game because really we don't have much to lose in this game, but neither does OU... However I think the D will keep it close so we are gonna need big plays somewhere and hopefully they are practicing a few tricks they can resort to. Quote Link to comment
kansas husker
The thing about trick plays is they take more time to develop than a regular play with our o line they are more riskey than usual Quote Link to comment
CENTEXHUSKER
I'd like to see the Black 41 Flash Reverse Pass to Green and let him run wild...... GBR Quote Link to comment

True, but it was 8 years ago...how sweet would it be to burn 'em again on it? Quote Link to comment

Nothing about our offensive personel, scheme, coaches, or anything is the same as it was in 2001. Even the turf is different. Quote Link to comment
HuskerfaninOkieland
Oooh...I have a trick play we can try. It's called "Red Zone Offense". Lots of teams use it with pretty good success. Basically what happens is you trick the other team into thinking you're NOT going to get a TD and then BAM!!!!! You score 6 pts. Quote Link to comment
irafreak
Damn it! Trick plays are for dress wearing girls! Grow a pair! We don't need trick plays! NU 70 OU 3 Quote Link to comment

I'd love to see a RB throw it on one those toss sweeps that everyone sees coming. My feeling though is that we don't a pure athlete on offense who can make the play. Lucky, Purify and even Tierre were great athletes and usually saw the bulk of the trick plays. Quote Link to comment
Landlord
I agree with Overland. The Nebraska rendition of the halfback pass was one of my favorite parts of the modernized offense. Anytime we would get within the 30-20 yard line, and lined up in trips right you knew it was coming, but the other team never did. Quote Link to comment
irafreak
Hmm interesting thought. Watson keeps running that stretch play where almost the whole Oline shifts to the other side and you can see the defense begin to pick up on it after they run it a couple times....maybe saving one for OU? irafreak
Yeah got a little greedy. Course it wouldn't have hurt Alex to wait till the ball was snapped to take off... Quote Link to comment
