When do we go back to having linebackers?

hmm...i would think a bigtime JUCO linebacker would be that much older and informed to make a not-so-emotional decision for his future compared to some 4 or 5 star high schooler. says something about the coaches wanting a proven talent as well. so i think it says even more for the linebacking future.

granted, the fact they went the JUCO route to begin with questions their decision making abilities...so hell, i dunno. guess its a wash.

thats why schools get into trouble recruiting mostly JUCOs like we did in the Callahan era.

That is ALSO why Ron Prince sucked at KSU.

its nice to take JUCO's and i'm happy with who we've gotten during the Pelini era, but you just can't make them the primary recruiting base, which we haven't done during Pelini's time here and thats a good thing.

I'm only making a point, nothing to blast David or Hardrick, i'm sure if Pelini wanted them they will pan out just like Gomes did this year as well

I am assuming we will when Suh is gone, but maybe not. Bo said the defense will be better next year. Any thoughts? And would you come to Nebraska if you were an elite linebacker prospect?

I'm confused by your question, but I'll give my best answer.

The defensive lines primary goal in our defense is to free up blockers so our line backers can make tackles. The problem with that, however, was that Suh and our defensive line was extremely good, and our linebackers were young and rather inexperienced (with the exception of Dillard). Most of them played out of position and didn't make plays often.

Next year will bring with it more experience in the LB corp and a strong (but probably not as good) defensive line unit. In our front seven we prominently lose Dillard, Suh, and Turner, who each played key roles this year.

Linebackers have started to figure out their roles in today's defense. You can't simply be a line-plugging backer anymore. You need a lot of speed to combat today's spreads. Seeing how our defense played, idk why you wouldn't want to be a part of it. Who wouldn't want to play for a top 10 defense?

prime example is that Juco that ran his mouth about how we'd beat USC...5 star DB i think his name was Andre Jones?

he was flat out awful, Zack Bowman didn't do much while at Nebraska he was a 5 star.

Alfonzo Dennard 3 star HS recruit and Prince 3 star HS recruit > than the 2 Juco 5 stars

we had some highly ranked ranked HS players that were busts too......

Bowman was good when he was healthy. Not really his fault that he blew out his knee twice.

And he probably would have been a great one under different coaches. He's in the NFL now, i think that says enough about his talent right there.

We ran 4-1-6 more than 4-0-7. It all depends on the offenses we face. We will run a set with 3 LB's when we stop seeing offenses with 5 wides.

I was at CU. Fischer, Compton, Gomes and Hagg all stood close to the sidelines. On certain calls Gomes and Hagg would come in, on others the 2 LB's would come in. It depended on the offensive package.

Dillard was on the field regardless. I'm guessing this is where Lavonte is next year. I think that Bo felt in most situations that we needed the speed and since our corners are pretty physical this year it was like they were small LB's out there anyways.

Really cause Demorrio Williams, Zac Taylor, Dejon Gomes, Maurice Purify all come to my mind when talking about Juco players and they were all pretty good. Not all Jucos are bust.

I can't believe you just mentioned Ron Princes name....he is a horrible coach and is nowhere near what Pelini is as a coach.
