Huskertone14
Maybe this has already been posted, but why doesn't Nebraska go after Mike Leach to be the Passing Coordinator? Would it just be too expensive to keep Watson and hire Leach? USC had a Passing and Running coordinator. Quote Link to comment
TheCheshireCat
Head coaches will not ever be the OC/DC of a team, especially ones with the success that Leach had. It's a demotion. Quote Link to comment
jimk
Just wanted to get one of these in once. Quote Link to comment
Malth
So the HC for a semisuccessful program is going to go somewhere else to be the passing coordinator? Quote Link to comment
GSG
The cut in Leach's pay would not be sufficient for the up-keep on his pirate ship, therefore he would be unable to continue swashbuckling the high seas. Quote Link to comment

Who is going to hire him as a head coach after what has happened at TTU? I think his options are go be an OC somewhere, take a year off, or take a HC job at a school that is less prestigious than Texas Tech. IMO being an OC somewhere at a big time school would be better than being a HC at a small time school. And if he went to a place like Nebraska, and turned that Offense around he would have a much better chance at landing a big time job in the future than if he went to a smaller school. holvy83
He is not doing any favors to his rep right now, he should drop the lawsuit, slide away for a year and start up somewhere small. After reading about how all the players basically jumping for joy after his firing, would think he just needs to put it to bed and move on.... Quote Link to comment
skerfan1705
No...even if he wanted to coach for Nebraska...what about his reputation with players. Parents don't want their kids anywhere near this guy. Quote Link to comment
Landlord
I think the biggest reason Mike Leach would never come here is because he doesn't fit in with the Nebraska culture, and has even been critical of our culture in the past. Quote Link to comment

Mike Leach would never come to Nebraska. Especially not now. There's an opening with the Pirates of East Carolina! Quote Link to comment

But I see your point. Quote Link to comment
hskrpwr13
His offenses were good, but I believe that style of offense is half the reason that TT's defense was usually average at best. I'd much rather prefer a grind it out offense to help keep the other teams O on the sidelines. Quote Link to comment
irafreak
There were a handful of players that "jumped for joy" many supported him. A HC is always going to have people that don't like him. And there have been many fired HC that have gone on to be coordinators. Chuck Long is with TG in KU right now...former NC state coach. There's also greg robinson from syracuse up in is it michigan as DC? That said...leach is good enough and still reputable enough to be a HC elsewhere and may get an offer. Hell if Tennessee would take Kiffin then there are schools that'll grab leach. Quote Link to comment
OPSker
You'd better have some thick skin if you're his AD. Leach rubs people (ie big time boosters) the wrong way. He's not a people person. Given all the problems he's caused and is causing his bosses, he won't be working in college football at the I-A, BCS level anytime soon. Just my thoughts. Quote Link to comment
