TonyStalloni
The team that spanked Houston this afternoon is I think the first team on our schedule next year. Didn't see all the game but the parts I saw it looked like SM came to play. I'm not saying they are world class, but they are the winners of their conference with a signature win over an undefeated team. I don't know if they are a team loaded with seniors or how many will be back next fall. The boys better have their helmets strapped on tight for that first game! Quote Link to comment
lo country
18 INT's on the year. 8 for TD's. Total D is ranked 26th. The secondary is solid. Their DC came over from Zook and Illinois this year. IIRC, switched Southern Miss to a more 4-2-5 look. IMHO, they have and always are a trap game. Quote Link to comment
B.B. Hemingway
Starting QB is a senior (threw for over 3000 yds this year), best WR is a senior as well. Their leading rusher (600 yds.) is a freshman. They lost two games in the CUSA, one of those were to UAB, which got beat by FAU (1-10) last week.... It should be a good test, but they are losing guys... Quote Link to comment
TonyStalloni
I know that usually we start with a patsie to get one easy win under our belts. I wouldn't call SM a patsie. Quote Link to comment

He has the look of a good coach, glad to see Houston go down today, they were way overrated.... Quote Link to comment

Captain Hindsight
Joe Dailey isn't around to run out of bounds on 4th down so I'm not worried about Southern Miss right now. Quote Link to comment
Cactusboy
Is next year at SM? I plan on going the year it's away. I want to visit all 50 states and figured this would be the best time to cross Mississippi off the list. Quote Link to comment
Husker in CA
Never really seems like we're ready for the 1st game of the season. Had a couple of close calls against teams we should have plowed over. Usually play a bit better the second game........Next year is going to be interesting. All Pelini's guys now. Danimal
We certainly shouldn't take this game lightly but Fedora will likely be gone and USM does lose a fair amount of guys. Fedora's name is hot, have to think he takes advantage. Quote Link to comment
NUance
Hats off to Larry Fedora +1 for the double entendre. Quote Link to comment
