Some SI predictions

Recommended Posts

You know, i want the B1G to succeed in the non-conference to make us look a little better, but i honestly dont think i'd care if BSU beats MSU so everyone can shut the hell up about them.

what?

rather hear about msu than bsu any day of the week and twice on sunday.

Is the Big 10 conference really on the rise? Two teams can't even play for a championship. It has several solid teams, but it doesn't have an elite team. Maybe I'm looking through rose colored glasses, but we have a legitimate shot at winning the Big 10 this year. I don't see us going undefeated, but I don't see us losing four games either.

I don't know if it's on the rise. Mostly I think that has to do with Hoke's quick turn-around of Michigan and the advent of the Urban Meyer Era at Ohio State. Granted, OSU can't vie for any post-season play this year, but next year I'm guessing people expect magic from Urban. If Hoke can keep the Wolverines moving forward, that's two pretty good teams (allegedly). Now, if Bielema can maintain at Wiscy and if Bo can take the next step here, that's four pretty good teams, and the conference can legitimately be said to be rising. That's a lot of "ifs" though.

Biggest worry IMO - Urban can't replicate the magic he had in Florida, Hoke's success is tied to Shoelace and he stumbles after Robinson graduates, Bo continues on this four-loss plateau and Being Bielema hits the downhill side of the roller-coaster and the Big Ten continues to get pummeled in bowl games. That makes for a pretty mediocre conference.

that's is why it is on the rise, and not quite there.

and i agree with your post.

I guess my main point is that the Big 10 usually has solid teams. There have been several times in the past decade where it had an elite team. If our defense can pull it's weight along with our OL, we could challenge this year as an elite team. Last year, our implosions were mostly mental. I've got to think over the offseason this has been addressed and corrected. I'm not predicting a NC, but I am predicting a BCS bowl.

i think it is on the rise and i hope we contribute to that. michigan appears to be back. msu seems to be stable as a top team in the league. their consistency has helped boast their national appeal. osu with uban, nothing more needs to be said. wisconsin has had sustain success and is a strong contender. if wiscy and msu continue the level of play, mich. and osu elevate to compete for national championships, and nu steps up (hopefully they become better then wiscy and msu and are right with mich. and osu), that is a solid league.

I'm very hesitant to put Michigan as being back. Penn State used to be a heavyweight, but I see it being a long time before they get back to that status. Wisconsin has been a contender for quite a while. It will be difficult for even Urban Meyer to make OSU better than they have been in the last decade. I'd be more inclined to compare the Big 10 to the ACC right now rather than the SEC. I guess it all depends on one's perspective.

Why do fans that think the program is falling apart/can't win anything/Bo stinks.....bla then turn around and claim that anyone who doesn't believe that too is "accepting mediocrity"?

That just makes no sense. Like there is no middle ground. To them, it is either a top five team and playing for the NC or we suck and we are an embarassment.

We have a good program that is stable. There are areas that need improvement to win championships which is EVERYONE'S goal.

They get all pissed off like if we don't win a championship this year their life will come to an end.

Reading what is said and what is implied may be the problem.

No I do not like Pelini, but have said hundreds of times I do not want him fired. Nothing good could come of it. He is what we have and he needs to do the job he was hired to do.

Yes my wife hates the man, feels he is the worst possible head coach we could have. Feels he drives away top recruits and runs them off from inside the program. Not sure where I am on this.

Strong enough that we are not going to the UCLA game, she refuses to endorse anything he does. Will not support the program until he is gone. This will be the first game I have missed in California since moving here 35 years ago.

I said we would not do as well as some stating we would dominate the Big 10. Try reading the posts. I know if it is not all sunshine you guys only see what you want to see, evident in the above posts.

I stay away from this sunshine pumping hole most of the time anymore, as it is on the side of sickening to listen to the swallow anything group as long as it is positive. We have major problems, wake up and smell the coffee. In honesty this site has made me lose a lot of interest in the program.

As far as I told you so, that was not my intent. Most on here suggested we would be in MNC level with in the first couple of years, would desimate the Big 10 last year with our speed. I made note of small line backers not matching up. I mentioned the regular game we would lose that we should not.

I will state again, I do not want Pelini fired, removed or gone. This program can not stand that. We are on the edge of being and after thought now, another 5 year experiment would not do us any good.

I want him to do the job he was hired for and to accomplish his stated mission, win championships. When he does, those things he will quit being a flop in the eyes of the media.

So go ahead and keep swallowing the slop that flows readily on this board. Which I used to feel was the best board as opinions were accepted, unfortunately that has changed and if you are not in quick step with the group you are an anti fan.

Fortunately for me, my life does not revolve around an internet board as some on here seem to. I love Nebraska Football and always will, but I see it for what it is, not what some dreaming group think it is.

Translation: All of you accept mediocrity, and I'm better than that.

You go to support the players, and the university. I drove halfway across the country to watch NU play @ Wake Forest in '07, and I wasn't a Callahan fan. But I went because Nebraska is my team, and I support them through thick and thin. I loved the team in 1995, and I loved them in 2004. If you won't go the to game because your wife doesn't like Bo Pelini, then you are both bad fans, period.

I'm sick of this "If I don't get what I want, I'm not supporting the team" childish BS. You know what's worse than "accepting mediocrity?" Being a fair weather fan who only supports their team when they win. Neither of you have any clue whatsoever about the inner workings about the program, and are simply guessing based on some misguided feelings. Don't accuse everyone of "seeing what they want to see" when you and your wife are doing the exact same thing.

Grow a pair of balls, tell your wife the clean the sand from her vagina, and go to the game and support the University Of Nebraska Football Team. If you can't do that, then you should rethink your allegiances, because obviously, they aren't for Nebraska.

Iil off topic....I am sorta rooting for BSU now that you bring up the subject. I want to see if Mich St. will be vulnerable at home this year.

Trust me Saunders, I have a far closer relationship with this program than you could ever imagine. I have been farther away from since the hiring of Bo.

My marriage is far more important than Nebraska football and has been for over 43 years.

I am married to one of the most intelligent women I have ever met, heart of gold and a great judge of character. Her thoughts run much higher than some football fan.

I wish the team luck this year and the years to follow. I wish Coach Pelini luck, and many years of success.

Enjoy the season.

Edit: I removed my response. No point in arguing with crazy.
